Better post! I want to read about these battles!
vs 31 - 38 2nd ranked Alabama and 8th ranked Georgia meet in Atlanta to settle the 2013 SEC Championship and hopefully for Alabama earning themselves a spot in the BCS Title game. The Crimson Tide took the opening kickoff and started hot and on the 4th play of the game Amari Cooper scored on a 54 yard TD from AJ McCarron. But not to be out done the BG and his Georgia Bulldogs drove right down the field and tied the game at 7-7 when Malcolm Mitchell caught a 10 yard TD from Aaron Murray. But the Crimson Tide kept the high octane pace in the 1st Qtr rolling as DeAndrew White pulled in a 26 yard TD from McCarron. The Crimson Tide was able to force a Bulldog punt and started their 3rd drive of the game. But Georgia's defense stiffened and Alabama settled for a 34 yard FG and a 17-7 lead early in the 2nd Qtr. But there was no panic in the Bulldogs as they responded with a long drive the was capped off with a Todd Gurley 1 yard TD run to pull within 17-14. The Crimson Tide was attempting to drive to get into FG range to end the half when McCarron spotted a bust in the Bulldog secondary and found Cyrus Jones for 52 yards to the 1 on a combo route. The Crimson Tide scored on a 1 yard run by Cooper with under a minute to go in the half Alabama increased their lead to 24-14. The Bulldogs looked to get into FG range when lighting struck and Geno Smith picked off a Murray pass and raced 36 yards for a TD and gave Alabama a 31-14 lead at the half. In the 2nd half the Bulldogs took the kickoff and put together a beautiful time consuming drive that ended when the Crimson Tide defense held and Georgia settled for a 18 yard FG. The Crimson Tide increased the lead again to 38-17 when TJ Yeldon scored on a 61 yard TD run where he broke a 3 man tackle that sprung him for the score. Early in the 4th Qtr the Bulldogs picked off McCarron and then scored when Malcolm Mitchell caught a 31 yard TD from Aaron Murray to pull Georgia within 38-24. The Crimson Tide was looking to use clock and not get crazy when the Tide laid the ball on the ground and the Bulldogs recovered in Bama territory. The Bulldogs did not waste the opportunity and Keith Marshall scored on a 9 yard TD run and with 4 minutes remaining in the game the Bulldogs faithful were starting to believe as Georgia only trailed 38-31. The Bulldogs stopped the Tide as they moved into Georgia territory but a huge sack took the wind out of the Alabama drive. The Crimson Tide lined up to punt on 4th and long from the Georgia 38 yard with just over 2 minutes left when the Alabama coaches called time out. After looking at the yardage again the Crimson Tide decided to go for the knock out punch and sent Cade Foster out to attempt a 55 yard FG. A risky move but taking into account his season long was 51 and this one was indoors with no wind it was within his range. Foster had the distances but the kick drifted off to the right and just missed and Georgia had dodge the knock out punch and had the ball at their 38 with plenty of time to tie the game. The Bulldogs drove into Alabama territory but Clinton Dix picked off Murray and gave the Crimson Tide the ball back with just over a minute to play. Alabama picked up the 1 first down they needed and ran out the clock and held on to defeat Georgia 38-31 to win the SEC Title. Great Game BG
