This was a great game overall. My defense could have done more but, hey I won't complain too much considering they only held them to 10 points. I guess the D goes with Dungy's old bend, don't break philosophy. Check the Wire for a comical Highlight in the game where a group of my players play hot potato with the football.

SMU Give Texas Tech a Tough Game But Ultimately Falls Short

I had this game all but wrapped up with a 10 point lead going into the 2nd half. A couple bad plays later the game is tied at 34-34, and I let the ball go again with about 4 minutes to go and they scored a TD leaving me about a minute left and I threw a pick...not a great day, but we played tough against good competition, watch out for Texas Tech's Air Raid.

Marshall Stomped by the Bucks

The Buckeyes Roll 63-30. But the score was closer than it looks. The buckeyes put up 21 points in the last 4 minutes. Marshall lost its starting QB, HB, 2 Offensive LInemen in the first half. There will be some talent evaluation going on this next week against WVU. The HB for the Bucks had close to 300 yds. Hopefully Noel Devine of the Eers will not but up the same type of numbers. The good news is the Herd put up over 600 yds against the Bucks. The offensive line for the Bucks (and the defensive line at that) were unstoppable.

As a note....I don't know how to create a table or change font size (but i do know how to do colors lol) Sorry guys

Michigan State 63

This game was close to start and then just got really ugly. Our run game was very very VERY ineffective (until the end, probably because the second string D was in), several TFL involved there. So we basically abandoned that and the passing show began as Carder and Burdi would combine for 603 passing yards but only Carder would throw 2 TDs (and five INTs). Michigan States defense was all over the short passing game, forcing WMU to throw it down field which lead to huge gains but their attempts to play conservative would not work. Burdi has better accuracy and equal throw power and will start next week. Masler predicted right with a loss to Michigan State (and for all of you to know, no I did not lose to my favorite team on purpose). Caper would also destory the run defense and get 39 carries, 226yds and 4 TDs, a good start for the sophomore HB.

Broncos are 0-1.

Stats

A. Carder 24/52, 479 yds, 2 TD

D. Burdi 6/19, 124 yds

A. Ponder 5 Rec, 213 yds, 2 TD (two very long TD involved in this)

T. Smith 5 Rec, 103 yds

D. Legrier 12 Tackles

...::Week 1 Temple Owls Vs UNLV::...

"The Temple Owls Fight For Every Yard In Win Over UNLV"

"The Setting At Lincoln Financial Field Was Perfect Football weather as the Temple Owls faced off in a tough contest with the UNLV Rebels. Nothing was given as both defenses proved toughed.. but as the game wore own.. The Owl MOXIE outlasted that of the Rebels... Leading to a 27-17 Victory For the Owls.
The 1st half saw only 13 points total being scored. The owls were able to drive down field into Rebel territory twice on the legs of Heisman hopeful Bernard Pierce, but the Rebel defense stiffened twice to force 2 field goals. At the end of the 2nd quarter the Rebels were able to finaly get a drive together finishing with a TD run by RB CJ Cox to go into the half with a 7-6 lead.
In the 2nd half the Rebels came out with a nice drive but the owls defense tightened and held the rebels to a FG. Going into their next drive, Coach Smith looked his guys in the eyes and said "Right Now is where we determine if we are going to Win or Lose this Game. Go Out Right Now.. and show every1 why we are thinking so positive this year." The speech must of worked because 3 plays later.. QB Chester Stewart Hit WR Joe Jones on a 65 Yard Strike For a TD and the lead 14-10.

After that touch down, the owls busted the game open. Coach Smith decided to start using an off speed back to compliment Star Bernard Pierce.. and it was obvious the Rebels Werent Ready for it. Back-up RB Matt Brown torched the Rebel D for 122 yards on 9 carries and a beautiful 69 Yard touchdown score.

Pierce was still able to get his.. and finally got in the the endzone at the end of the forth the end the game with 26 carries 119 yards and a TD.

The Owls look forward to utilizing this new threat on their offense.. and Coach Smith is licking is chops to get with his offensive coordinator and come up with some stuff.

"Miners win an OT miracle-game!"

UTEP and first year OC "Coach Max" open up the season on the right foot with a memorable win over Navy in El Paso.

This one would come down to the last play of regulation, and that still wouldnt be enough for these two teams. UTEP let a nice lead slip away from them, and had to kick a FG with 0:00 on the clock to tie the game up and send it to OT. UTEP won the toss, elected to put their defense on the field, and promptly forced Navy into a FG situation. The ball went up and it looked good for a moment, but it pulled left and just missed the upright. The stadium went nuts as the Miners offense took the field to set up the game-winning FG.

The new spread system Max has brought to UTEP seems to be the perfect fit for the Miners. With Vittatoe and Buckram in the backfield, UTEP poses a threat on offense for any opponent.

As for the Miner defense... They held Navy back enough to get the win. The midshipmen put up 372 yards of total offense to UTEP's 560! Its all about the offense down here in El Paso!

Next week The Miners travel East to Houston to take on a top 25 ranked Cougar squad in their C-USA opener. UTEP will need all the luck they can get to knock off Case Keenum & co.

Week 1 - Air Force at Central Michigan

Air Force 6
Central Michigan 14

Basically won this game because Air Force shouldn't even have a pass play in their playbook. Air Force back A. Clark had 33 carries for 146 yards but 0 TDs. My passing was awful going 12-31 but I had 207 yards and 2 TDs. My runningbacks totaled 130 yards rushing and almost everyone caught 2 passes on the offense.

UTEP hit I-10 East and rolled into H-Town like they owned the place. The Houston Cougars were ranked, had a Heisman candidate at QB, had home field advantage, and it still wasnt enough to fend off the new-look Miners.

Thanks to a 21-point outburst in the 2nd quarter from Trevor Vittatoe, where he connected with 3 different receivers for TDs, the Miners would take a 31-17 into halftime.

U of H would come out with some great adjustments and limit UTEP to 8 second-half points. The Cougars just couldnt find a rhythm on offense...
A 4th quarter Safety on Keenum sealed the huge upset win for UTEP who traveled home all smiles.

Tough game as the defense failed to show up. Carder got knocked out for 5 weeks allowing his much better back up take the reins and lead the Broncos to victory. Army very nearly made a last second comeback but the secondary would swat it away and seal the win. Our run game was once again very ineffective as the HB saw over 20 carries but never broke 100 yards. It was all the passing game again.

TULSA FALTERS IN STILLWATER

The Golden Hurricanes experienced their first loss of the season to instate rival Oklahoma State on Saturday 27-17. Turnovers were the name of the game for Tulsa, giving away the bowl five times and two times in the redzone. But both offenses exploded with over 1000 yards combined but the defenses stood tall in key situations. The Cowboys held the possession all game too, holding the bowl 8 more minutes than Tulsa. Neither quarterback for Tulsa looked good either , both throwing two interceptions. Coach Taylor had something to say about that," This week both quarterbacks better work hard it is an open position the way I see it. Both quarterbacks have struggled and whoever comes out on top can stand under center next Saturday. We will go back home and work on offensive efficiency. It has not been a problem so far but we hit a brick wall against a formidable opponent who I give props to. We need to learn how to work in big games because we could have several down the road." Next week the Golden Hurricanes face Fcs opponent Delaware at 3:30.

Once again UTEP takes on a familiar I-10 foe, this time the Miners were playing host to an East bound NMSU squad who seemed very uninterested in this game. The Aggies had enough fight in them to knock out starting UTEP QB Trevor Vittatoe for 3 weeks though...

Coaches and fans alike were worried when T-Vitt went down, especially after seeing the show he had put on just before. The sting of losing their starting QB was offset by the Miners' run game. Buckram was gashing the NMSU defense all day long, and definitely took some of the load of (RS)Senior QB J. Thomas, who only completed 2/7 passes.

The Aggies were really no match for the Miners, but this was an important rivalry game and it makes UTEP 2/3 against I-10 rivals (only Rice remains).

Next week UTEP takes on Memphis at home. Look for an expansion of the Read Option portions of the Miners' playbook as Thomas is more of a scrambler than anything else.

Broncos Take Out Toledo

Toledo 25

Western Michigan 42

After playing horrible offense and even worse defense Western found themselves down 19-7 in the 3rd quarter. Finally their offense found it's groove and they quickly cut the lead to 5. After a nice defensive stand Western would then throw a nice quick TD and go up 2 points heading into the half. The second half was all Wester as they allowed only a TD from Toledo (they failed at the 2pt conversion). Another good day for the passing game as backup, now officially replacing Carder (even when he recovers from his injury) as he threw 5 TDs but still was shaky on 4 INTs. The Broncos also found success in their run game with two halfbacks going over 200 yards together and a score.

Western is 2-1 (1-0) and will rest on two consecutive Byes to work on the sloppy defense and inaccurate throws. This will no do us good in recruiting.

Hurricane Report

Tulsa came out firing on Saturday but FCS opponent Delaware also did. It never came close to an upset but both offenses had over 500 yards which is a huge question mark for the Golden Hurricanes. On a positive note the passing game came alive for the first time all season as the starters and second team both scored several touchdowns in the passing attack. Starting Quarterback G.J Kinne is also the NCAA leader in passing yards 4 games in which is great moving forward. Coach Taylor voiced his opinion about the game also. " Wow, Alot of things happened today. Delaware never stopped fighting, and really put a number on our defense. They are very well coached on the other hand, the offensive attack finally came together perfectly and both quarterbacks showed their talents. Our defense better be ready this next week because if they play like they did today we will not be in any of our conference games. Next week's practice will not be easy on them! Next week's game against Memphis should be a great conference game we need to continue our conference winning streak and these next few weeks will decide where we stand at the end of the season. Our team is out there to please this rabid fanbase! GO GOLDEN HURRICANES!"

Chester Steward Celebrates 97 Yard TD Pass

The Temple Owls Came Into University Park with no expectations.. no pressure.. no chance.. RIGHT? well THATS WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME!!. Penn State came in thinking this game wud be a breeze, especially after their initial drive was with ease as they got the FG to go up 3-0 over the Owls. Then they stuff the owls first run attempt, followed by a sack leaving temple with a 3 and long on their OWN 3 and things looks like expected. BUT Temple Coach smith calls a wheel route for HEISMAN HOPEFUL and STAR RB Bernard Pierce out the backfield which worked to perfection.. and resulted in a 97 YARD TD pass and the GAME was on!. The teams traded scores after that in the 2nd quarter and went into the half 21 -17 with the owls WINNING? WHAT?
The 3rd quarter opened with the owl defense coming up with a HUGE stop holding Penn State to a FG to make the score 21-20... and then the TEMPLE WORKHORSE Pierce was able to score on a nice 15 play drive to end the 3rd 28-20 and the DREAM for TEMPLE.. and the NIGHTMARE for PENN STATE looked like a reality.
In the 4th.. the owls stopped Penn State, and got another TD to go up 35-20 and the game looked over. But Penn State drove down the field and got a TD quickly.. BUT the OWL defense came up HUGE with a INT on the 2pt conversion attempt to SEAL the game and a MAJOR UPSET for TEMPLE. (4-0)

i had an offline with Temple and Pierce was sick. He lead the league in rushing every year.

Buckram from UTEP is ridiculous too. I wish I had him for another year though.
