Despite having 4 turnovers the Bulldogs hung in there until the 4th quarter when QB Aaron Murray overthrew his wide receiver by about a foot. The bulldogs feel good about this game even though they lost, they hung in there with a very good Virginia Tech team.

Freshman QB Aaron Murray had a great game in his debut, he went 13-21 and had 213 passing yards with 2 Int. and 2 TD.

Georgia travels to South Carolina next week to take on the Gamecocks in a huge rivalry game.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Lucky. That's the only way we can describe this victory. An inspired Utah team came to Pittsburgh and nearly handed the Panthers an opening day loss.

The Panthers offense was sloppy and out of sink. Bullied by a suprisingly tough Utah defense. QB Tino Sunseri was sacked 5 times. WR Jon Baldwin was kept bottled up all game long. Even HB Dion Lewis was kept in check with only 48 yards on 24 carries.

The defense and special teams carried the day though. The defense forced 2 fumbles and had 4 sacks on the day, with constant pressure on Utah QB Jordan Wynn. The play of the game though was WR Cameron Saddler's 85 yard punt return TD. Which was the difference in the game.

The Panthers are going to have to get much better because in two weeks they play Penn State.

The Good:JUCO Transfer TE Chase Ford and WR Leonard Hankerson both have over 100 yards receiving, success bringing pressure forcing 4 sacks and twice as many hurry ups, The defense stepped up late in the game and forced two 4 and outs on Nebraska's final two drives while they were attmepting to come back.

The Bad: Injury Prone Starting HB Graig Cooper knocked out of the game 5 times with a different injury each time and he has lost his job to HB Damien Berry, still giving up too many big pass plays.

Next Week: Bye Week, will give Miami time to prepare for Temple, after two convincing wins over traditional NCAA powerhouses Miami is riding high.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: The team is 2-0 after another tough game. This time against lowly Illinois. Things still aren't clicking for this Panthers squad. QB Tino Sunseri was woeful going 9 for 21 with 166 yards 1 TD and 1 INT. Dion Lewis also has yet to find his rhythym with only 104 yards on 27 carries. We aren't sure what is going on here, but the offense should be more explosive than this.

The defense once again carried the team. Illionis QB's were sacked 8 times and intercepted twice. One for a TD by CB Ricky Gary. Total domination and if not for some lucky plays in the first half, we could have shut them out.

The team needs to get better on offense if they are going to win the Big East. We have a bye week in week 3, and then its off to Happy Valley to play the Nittany Lions...

Scoring Summary:

Florida St @ Oklahoma

Florida St traveled to Norman, Oklahoma for a early season showdown between national powerhouses.

The first half would see both defenses bend but not break. The Noles twice were able to get a first and goal from inside the 3 but both times had to settle for 3. Christian Ponder also was intercepted inside the red-zone but thankfully the Nole defense kept them in the game. Oklahoma was only able to put up two field goals of their own in the half. At Halftime the score was Florida St 6 Oklahoma 6.

Both offenses would finally hit paydirt in the third quarter. First it was the Noles when FB Lonnie Pryor capped off a nice drive with a 5yd TD rush. Oklahoma would answer quickly however. The Sooners All-American TB Demarco Murray finally broke loose and scampered 71yds for the equalizing TD. FSU kicker Dustin Hopkins would hit his 3rd FG of the game to give the Noles a 3 point lead when the Sooners took the field again. The Nole defense forced the Sooners into a 3rd and long when the play of the game happened. Jaccobi Mcdaniel and Everett Dawkins converged on Sonner QB Landry Jones and forced a fumble which was picked up by Markus White for an easy FSU TD. The Noles would hang on for an exciting 26-20 victory in Norman.

The player of the game was Bert Reed. The Jr WR had 7 catches for 93yds including a couple huge 3rd down conversions. Ponder went 19-33 for 259yds with 1 pick. Jermaine Thomas led the ground attack with 17 carries for 64yds.

Up next for the Noles is the home opener against BYU.

State College, Pennsylvania: In what will soon become an annual rivalry, Penn State squeaked out a victory over a solid Pittsburgh Panthers team. With their backs against the wall midway through the 3rd quarter down 21-3, Penn State fought all the way back to a 24-21 victory.

Pittsburgh had a chance to tie the game and force OT, but a 56 yard FG attempt sailed about 3 feet wide.

Penn State WR Andrew Szczerba played a great game catching 8 passes for 158 yards and 1 TD. For Pittsburgh Dion Lewis was the player of the game with 148 yards, 1 TD on 15 carries.

Each QB was sacked 6 times, one of which caused a Pitt turnover. The only one in the game. Pitt had a plenty of chances to put this one away, but the Penn State defense stiffened and forced several punts in the 2nd half.

Scoring Summary:

First Quarter
01:59 TD Pittsburgh Dion Lewis HB #28 1 yard rush
Second Quarter
07:23 FG Penn State Collin Wagner K #36 44 yard field goal

Very tough game between me and PA (see above).

PA pretty much took it to me in the first half. I couldn't stop anything he was doing on offense. For me, offensively, I had to settle for a couple of FG attempts (in bad wind, none the less).

In the second half, my pressure picked up a bit and slowed down his offense. Offensively, I was able to get things moving a bit with Rob Bolden leading the way. Two key plays highlighted my comeback win.

The first highlight had my TE looking Mark Bravo:

The second highlight was my game winning TD w/ 14 seconds left. PA correctly guessed my screen pass, as his players were about to sack me I found Moye in the back of the endzone.

Yep great game man. Nice comeback. I took the crowd out of it for most of the game, but when it counted, they really stepped up.

Youll be at our house next year for some payback ;)

Week 4

Wake Forest @ Florida St

Wake Forest traveled to Talahassee for the ACC opener. What figured to be a tight game quickly turned into a blowout.

Wake must have been intimidated by the Black helmets and Jersey's because this was never a contest. FSU dominated on both sides of the ball in this lopsided game. The Noles probably could have scored 60 if they had wanted but decided to get some of the young guys some playing time.

The Player of the game was Senior QB Christian Ponder. He went 13-21 with 236yds and 2 TD's. Bert Reed again led the receivers with 5 catches for 100yds and a TD. Jermaine Thomas and Chris Thompson both had good day on the ground. Thomas had 80yds on 12 carries with a TD while Thompson had 99yds on only 11 carries with a TD of his own.

Up next for the Noles is a trip to Virginia then a monster game against arch-rival Miami.

This game was over after the first play. The Broncos fumbled their first play of the game and DeVon Torence picked it up and ran it in for a Touchdown.

Terrelle Pryor again dominated and the defense overwhelmed the Broncos on the Blue Turf. With this win, the Buckeyes put aside any talk of a Boise State national title.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: The Panthers are back on track after their heartbreaking loss at Penn State. The team was a little worried about Nevada's offense as they have not played a team using the "Pistol" before. It didn't really matter as the defense once again played well only allowing 3 points.

Dion Lewis finally had a 100 yard rushing day with 116 yards and 1 TD. WR Mike Shanahan also had a big game with 127 receiving yards.

Scoring Summary:

First Quarter
05:07 FG Pittsburgh Kevin Harper K #39 20 yard field goal
01:55 FG Nevada Ricky Drake K #46 44 yard field goal
Second Quarter
05:48 TD Pittsburgh Dion Lewis HB #28 6 yard rush
00:42 TD Pittsburgh Henry Hynoski FB #27 1 yard pass from Tino Sunseri QB #12
Third Quarter
03:53 TD Pittsburgh Ray Graham HB #1 9 yard rush
Forth Quarter
06:25 TD Pittsburgh Antwuan Reed CB #22 71 yard interception

Next week the Canes match up with Florida State in what will be their toughest test of the season so far, both these teams are undefeated and it should be a great game.

Florida St @ Virginia

Florida St sure seemed like they were looking ahead to the huge Miami game next week in this one. They dominated play for much of the first 3 quarters but continually let Virginia hang around with silly mistakes. If they continue to make these kind of mental mistakes, the Canes will eat them alive. The Noles have the upmost respect for Miami and are looking forward to this huge challenge. It's entirely possible this could be the first of two meetings for the bitter rivals but the loser will likely be out of the National Championship race.

Scoring Summary

First Quarter
06:36 TD Florida State Taiwan Easterling WR #8 7 yard pass from Christian Ponder QB #7
01:17 TD Florida State Chris Thompson HB #23 13 yard rush

Second Quarter
03:17 TD Virginia Kris Burd WR #18 7 yard pass from Marc Verica QB #6
00:31 FG Florida State Dustin Hopkins K #18 33 yard field goal
00:01 FG Virginia Robert Randolph K #3 22 yard field goal

Third Quarter
02:46 TD Florida State Jermaine Thomas HB #38 8 yard pass from Christian Ponder QB #7

Forth Quarter
05:49 TD Florida State Jermaine Thomas HB #38 20 yard rush
01:28 TD Virginia Dontrelle Inman WR #81 29 yard pass from Marc Verica QB #6
00:52 TD Florida State Lonnie Pryor FB #24 6 yard rush
00:00 TD Virginia Rodney McLeod SS #4 25 yard fumble
