Do we need that much for our summaries? I prefer to write more of a story for my games.

TCU starts off their 2010 campaign with a big win over #19 Oregon State.

In a game that was touted as an offensive match up, it was the frogs defense that decided this one, forcing 4 turnovers and holding talented HB Jacquizz Rodgers to 60 Yards and 0 TD's. Offensively TCU's QB Andy Dalton struggled in his first game back, throwing for 196 Yards with no TD's and 2 INT's. HB Ed Wesley was one broken tackle away from a big run on numerous occasions, but was held to a modest 96 Yards with 1 TD.

Gameball goes to TCU CB Greg McCoy who finished the day with 4 Tackles and 2 INTS, both his INT's were huge in this game. With one coming in the endzone with under 2 minutes remaining and the other being returned for a TD.

    Nebraska Tops Stanford 31-24

(AP) Stanford, CA - The Cornhuskers came into this game with a big target on their backs. A #9 ranking combined with the first game of the season got the Stanford crowed riled up from the beginning. The Cardinal brought a potent offense led by sophomore sensation Andrew Luck and a great corps of receivers, led by Chris Owusu and Ryan Whalen. Nebraska brought The Blackshirts and a punishing ground game. Redshirt freshman Taylor Martinez was rarely asked to throw, but delivered when called upon.

The first half saw limited offense. The only points on the board after the first quarter was a field goal by Stanford kicker Nate Whitaker from 44 yards out. The 2nd half saw Nebraska jump out in the first 2 minutes, tallying a 19 yard Alex Henery field goal and a Roy Helu Jr 4 yard TD run. Both teams exchanged punts until Stanford was able to put together another drive capped off by a Stephan Taylor 6 yard run. Nebraska was unable to do anything with the ball before half and punted away leaving Stanford very limited time. With 13 seconds to go Andrew Luck was hit on a throw and Nebraska DB Eric Hagg intercepted the pass and ran the 15 yards into the endzone. This was huge for the NU momentum.

Rex Burkhead was the first to find the endzone in the half. The Nebraska RB caught an 18 yard pass form Martinez and hurdled a Stanford defender into the endzone. The Cardinal were quick to answer again with a drive capped again by a Taylor TD.

Nerbaska was able to avoid a Stanford come back bid and recovered an onside kick to clinch the game.

Head coach Bo Pelini said he was proud of his team and how they played. "We need to better on defense when teams run the 2 minute drill on us. We need to take advantage of errant passes and make a play on the ball. Overall we did a good job of limiting the opposition from many big plays today. That is our key this year, to make teams put drives together against us. We also can't turn the ball over on defense. Our guy is young, but he still knows his responsibility as a QB. This bye week coming up will give us a chance to figure out what went wrong on some of the long passes today."

Nebraska RB Roy Helu Jr. came up big today for the Huskers. The senior carried the ball 28 times for 124 yards and 2 TD's. Senior WR Niles Paul also came up with some big catches to keep the defense honest. Defensively the Huskers were led by DB/Peso man Eric Hagg. The senior racked up 6 tackles and took an interception back for a score that swung momentum into Nebraska's hands.

Big Red will take a week off before hosting Western Kentucky in Week 3.

    Washington State Gets Robbed

    Washington State University Cougars 32

    Oklahoma State University Cowboys 35

Washington State fought valiantly against Oklahoma State, but could not contain Oklahoma State Running Back Kendall Hunter. Hunter ran for 220 yards, and scored the game winning touchdown on a 22 yard run on a Fourth and two with 25 seconds remaining. Washington State QB Jeff Tuel threw the ball very well, throwing for 433 yards and three touchdowns. He threw two interceptions, the first occured on WSU's opening drive as the Cougars were driving in OSU's area of the field. On WSU's second possession, after OSU scored, WSU fumbled the ball inside the OSU's twenty. OSU took the ball down the field and scored again.

WSU finally got on the board at the end of the first half on a nine yard touchdown pass. Then WSU got the momenentum the Cougs scored on a 61 yard touchdown run by Chantz Staden. Then the Cougs intercepted a Brandon Weeden pass, and kicked a field goal to take the lead. Then the fireworks began, OSU scored two touchdowns to take what appeared to be a commanding 28-17 lead. Then Tuel led the Cougs down the field and hit Jeffrey Solomon on a 29 yard touchdown pass, and got the two point conversion. The Cougs then stopped the Pokies, and drove down the field, and Tuel hit RB Chantz Staden on a 23 yard touchdown pass with a minute 16 left, which proved to be too much time. The Cowboys drove the ball down the field, running the ball, and got RB Hunter to score on 22 yard touchdown with 25 seconds to go.

Are we not doing our own individual game summaries in the summaries board and just doing 1 per game in this thread? Or whats the deal?

I say I got robbed, because the Cowboys ran the flipping ball down the field to set up the score, and then they get the 22 yard run to win the game, it just pisses me off.

Nevada scores final 26 points to rally for win against USF. Neveda QB Colin Kaepernick (293 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs) led the way for Nevada to take care of the Bulls. Nevada RB Via Taua put the final nail in the coffin by ripping off a 69 yards TD with 1:23 to play.

USF had three turn overs on the day and that was the difference. QB B.J. Daniels had two turnovers and Zero TDs.

Very streaky game. I scored the first 10, USF scored the next 24, then I scored the last 26, so we both came back from double-digit deficits in the game.

Ducks Win Game, Lose Big Star

The Oregon Ducks began the season great, with a 1-0 start. The Ducks defeated the Lobos from New Mexico on Saturday 42-17. LaMichael James rushed for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns all in the first half. QB Darren Thomas also tossed up 2 scores for 177 yards through the air. In the 2nd half, the reserved 2nd and 3rd string also got some action, RB Kenjon Barner never got going and the Ducks punted on all but 2 possessions in the 2nd half. Coach TE harped through the off-season that this team doesn't have much depth at the O-Line and the defense, "keeping players healthy will be key, that's why I chose to sit my starters in the 2nd half" said the Ducks coach. Midway through the 2nd quarter, LaMichael James rushed up the middle, bounced off 2 guys and fell down at an awkward angle, he left the game and later, the medical staff confirmed a torn groin, the speedy James will be sideline up to 8 weeks. Coach TE told reporters "I'm going to see how our other guys do against Michigan before I take the redshirt off Lache, that kid is explosive and I hate to do that, but we can't afford a dismal year, we need players on the field that can win games by making plays, we'll see how we do against Michigan"

    Getting Ugly Late

The USF Bulls had the highly ranked Gators right where they wanted them, until crunch time that is. With 7:28 left in the 4th quarter, down 22-16 to the Gators, USF's lead taking drive came up short and they booted a 49 yard field goal to pull within 3, 19-22. then all hell broke loose. Florida ripped off 4 TDs in the final 7 minutes to put the wannabe Bulls in their place.

Florida QB John Brantley (20-24, 299 yards, 3 TDs) led the charge with a precise outing and Jeff Demps took care of the ground attack with a crisp 135 yards and a TD on 15 carries.

For USF, nifty QB BJ Daniels ran out of magic in the 4th and ended up throwing 4 more interceptions on the day. Daniels also led the Bulls rushing attack with 59 yards. The Bulls also lost a fumble making for a total of 5 turnovers on the day to Florida's 2. As usual, turnovers tell the story.

Next Week the Bulls are on Bye, followed by a matchup with Western Ky.

Austin,TX- #5 Boise St came into Austin to take on the #3 Longhorns led by Mack Brown and his high powered offense. Offense was the key factor in the game as it would come down to whose defense could make a stop. The game came down to the final minute as Boise St would score with 34 seconds left in the game to put them on top 45-44 but on Texas's first play after the kickoff Garrett Gilbert launched an 80 yard TD with 20 seconds left...ball game.

    Penn State 23

Penn State eeked out a hard fought victory over Washington State, beating the Cougs 23-7. Penn State struggled through the first three quarters scoring a total of nine points with three Collin Wagner field goals. Washington State employed a tough bend but do not break defense that allowed the Nittany Lions to move the ball down the field, but once in the red zone the Lions had to settle field goals. In the second half the Cougs scored on a short TD run by James Montgomery that was set up by a 57 yard pass from Tuel to Jared Karstetter.

On the Nittany Lions next possesion Penn State QB Robert Bolden was picked off near the Cougars' endzone. However, the Cougs could not move the ball and had to punt. On the Nittany Lions next possession they were able to score getting the lead back up to nine points. QB Tuel tried to lead the Cougars back down the field, but one of his passes on the following drive was intercepted by CB Stephon Morris who took it back 64 yards for the game clinching touchdown.

The key to this game was the poor play by WSU quarterback Jeff Tuel. After last week's excellent performance against Oklahoma State, he struggled mightly going 9-23-199 yards, and 5 interceptions. He must play better for the Cougs to have any chance of winning games this season.
