    Houston - 41
    NIU - 17

Slow start to this one. I had to get adjusted to the air raid/spread offense. I still didnt really get a comfortable run game going. Too many plays stuffed in the backfield for 3-4 yard losses. Defense played fairly well limiting them to 17, and only a few big plays. Had 4 sacks and several forced fumbles which is a good sign.

Keenum was on target 29/40 479 yards 3 tds. HB Beall only had 44 yards on 21 carries, but did manage 119 yards receiving. The screen play seems to be my new run.

    OREGON STATE v SOUTH CAROLINA
    [IMG]
The Oregon State Beavers flew 2200 miles to face their opponents, the South Carolina Gamecocks on a crisp Saturday night. No time for jet lag because the South Carolina coach had his team ready to play.
The offensive stats were nearly identical and the score. After the Beavers scored a touchdown the first quarter they found themselves on the back end of a 14 to 0 point scoring deficit. The tough running of Lattimore gave the Beaver's head coach headaches. "We would have them stopped on third down, but he seemed to consistently break tackles and get the first down. He's got a bright future ahead of him."
Though, the young Beavers were down they didn't fold. They came out in the second half losing by 4 and put up a touchdown of their own. After their touchdown they stopped the Gamecocks who were forced to punt. However, after a lengthy drive the defense held and forced Oregon State to kick a FG only giving them a 6 point lead with a little over 5 minutes left in the game.
The Gamecocks were making progress when DE Taylor Henry intercepted the ball on an errant Garcia throw. The jumping ability of Henry wowed everyone, even the Gamecock coach. "I didn't know Michael "F***ing Jordan played defensive end for your all's ball club," he joked to the coach in a text message after the game (Yahoo Sports).
The comeback hopes were deflated after running back sensation, Jacquizz Rodgers, broke a 61 yard run between the tackles for a touchdown. The Gamecocks showed heart by landing some big throws and getting the score within six with only 10 seconds on the clock. They even recovered the onside kick, but the deficit was too much.
"We were excited to go into a hostile SEC stadium and get a win. It was a big win for our ball club moving forward. I wish the Gamecocks all the luck for the rest of the season."

After a slow first 12 minutes to this game, the Tar Heels were able to turn things around and finish the game as expected against lowly Toledo. The Rockets would take a 14-3 lead with 3:52 lefft in the 2nd quarter and were by far out playing the Tar Heels, forcing TJ Yates into 3 interceptions. Then, on a broken screen play Yates would find Greg Little streaking down the sideline for a 42 yard TD pass. This would open up the floodgates for the Tar Heels. Yates was injured on the next drive, but backup Bryn Renner was effective as his replacement, going 4/5 145 Yards and 2 TDs. His 2 touchdown passes were to Erik Highsmith and Greg Little, and were 56 and 63 yards respectively. The Tar Heels ground game was dominant, which setup the big plays in the passing game. They had 2 rushers go over 100 yards, and had 3 different players score a rushing touchdown. Overall North Carolina ran for 250 yards, and threw for another 241. The Tar Heels defense was also dominant, holding the Rockets to 22 yards on as many carries.

    3 Stars
UNC WR Greg Little- 4 Catches 138 Yards 2 TD
UNC HB Johnny White- 12 Carries 116 Yards 1 TD
UNC LB Kendrick Reddick- 6 Tackles 1 Sack 1 Int

    Week 1

    Arkansas 45 - Utah 21

Tough opening game for the Utes going on the road to Arkansas. Utah fell down 21-0 by the end of the 1st quarter but managed score 14 in the 2nd to be down 21-14 at halftime. The Utes scored a quick TD on the 2nd half kickoff to tie the game at 21. The wheels then fell off the wagon as Arkansas QB Ryan Mallet and HB Ronnie Wingo ate the Ute defense alive in the 3rd and 4th quarter as the Razorbacks scored 24 unanswered to finish the game.

I'm having a tough time adjusting to the spread offense but it didn't help we lost our starting QB Jordan Wynn for I don't know how long on the 2nd play of the game. Terrence Cain played ok in relief but had two costly interceptions in key situations. This could be a long year if I can't master the spread and the defense doesn't toughen up. Good thing this was one of my toughest games of the year.

Sucks to lose so early Bri. That offense is a tough one to learn, but effective when you figure it out.

    Georgia Tech 24

This game was very close throughout, however the big play of the game was the first play when on the opening kickoff the GT return man fumbled the opening kickoff and Ole Miss Melvin Harris recovered the ball and took it in for the endzone. GT fought back and tied the game with an impressive drive. Then with the score 10-7 Ole Miss, Georgia Tech drove the ball and appeared ready to take the lead when GT called a HB pass and it was intercepted in the endzone. GT was able to keep the game close with the excellent play by QB Joshua Nesbitt who ran for 144 yards and threw for 158, he scored three touchdowns, one in the air and two on the ground. GT's coach in his post game comments this was a disappointing loss, but looks forward to the year using this unique offense.

Close opening game for Ole Miss who struggled to stop Josh Nesbit and the option. Luckily for the Rebels they recovered a fumble for a touchdown on the opening kickoff. Jeremiah Masoli and the offense made plays when they needed to, but struggled to run the football out of the shotgun throughout the game. After the game Coach Komata's commented that he was happy with the win but the offense needs to be able to pick up yards on 1st and 2nd down to make converting on third down easier.

First game started off to a commanding 14-0 after the first quarter, but Arizona caught their wind and started to put points on the board. The A&M defense started to get porous on 3rd and long situations, allowing Arizona to convert on a quite a few situations. They did however redeem themselves with a Forced Fumble and an Int for a TD. Both offenses sputtered at the beginning of the second half only scoring once a piece. Arizona almost came within a field goal late in the game, but threw an unfortunate pick that lead to a defensive touchdown for A&M. Overall a good starting performance for the Aggies this season leading into an off week before their big game with Wisconsin.

Big win for UH taking down #9 Iowa. Defense played well most of the game only allowing a couple big plays for scores. Iowa ran 2 fake punts and converted on 1 of them. Keenum had another nice day with 277 in the air for 4 tds. Beall had about 75 on the ground with about 24 carries.

Easy game for the Rebels, the starters were out by half time. New Ole Miss QB Jeremiah Masoli ran for 2 tds and threw for another. Tulane didn't score until the 4th quarter. Ole Miss opens up SEC play against Vanderbilt in week 3.

The Oregon State Beavers hosted their first home game of the season against the Louisville Cardinals on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The first quarter promised a tight game and sloppy offensive play, but the Beavers scored 21 points in the 2nd quarter to really pull the game away early on.
The Rodgers brothers combined for a large chunk of the offensive point and yards. The explosive offense is led by the dynamic brothers who want a national title before their chance is gone.

There is only one thing I can say about this game for A&M, 4 Fumbles. One for a TD, 2 more for point drives, and one in OT to end the game. Very disappointed with my team's inability to hold onto the ball. Exciting game though against a good opponent that went to 4 OTs.

It was a pretty crazy game, no doubt. You returned one kick for a touchdown, almost two..... there were turnovers all over the place, and some crazy plays that probably never should have worked on both sides of the ball.

That being said, the main reason you fumbled was due to struggling after I made contact with you. When I play users, I almost always start hitting A whenever I have a guy wrapped up, especially if I notice that he tries to get out of the tackles consistently. You can normally get away with that with RB's and sometimes TE's (a higher percentage of the time), but QB's will fumble 40% of the time or more in most cases when you do that and WR's will fumble way more often than RB's in struggles. You would have won the game easily if you didn't consistently try to get those extra couple of yards.

    Utah 34 - New Mexico 31

The Utah Utes struggled to win another one against their rivals, the New Mexico Lobos. The game went back and forth the whole game and the Utes survived a comeback attempt at the end to escape with a three point victory. QB Jordan Wynn is still struggling to find his way and is still very inconsistant.

The star of the game was HB Eddie Wide who ran for 207 yards on 26 carries with 2 TD. TE Kendrick Moeai added 6 catches for 93 yards receiving as well.

This game was closer than the score shows. It was only 14-7 at half, and I caught a couple of lucky breaks in the 3rd quarter which blew the game open. Braden Hanson was a nice surprise, going 8/9 for 252 yards 1 td and 1 int after 2nd string QB Bryn Renner got hurt early on and starter TJ Yates was still recovering from an injury suffered in week 1. The defense was once again spectacular, holding the potent Georgia Tech rushing attack to around 100 yards.
