    Week #3

Both teams are 2-0 entering this contest and they each have a win against the Big 10. Virginia Tech went from unranked to #17 after beating Ohio State in Columbus. Florida State enters this game at #9 thanks to victories over Wisconsin and North Carolina. QB Logan Thomas is having a great start to the season with 706 yards passing and 5 touchdown passes. On the FSU side, the Seminoles are led by HB James Wilder. He is currently seventh in rushing yards with 235 yards and he has scored 3 times on the ground. Vegas oddsmakers expects this one to be a shootout as both teams have put up a lot of points in the first couple weeks, and each team has also given some points.

    Spread +3.5 Florida State

FSU Near Perfect in Victory, Prove Swami Wrong
    [IMG]
Tallahassee, FL -- This game was sure to be toughly contested as the #17 Virginia Tech Hokies traveled to the hostile Doak Campbell Stadium to take on the #9 Florida State Seminoles. These two teams entered the game with two of the best quarterbacks in the nation in Logan Thomas and Jameis Winston. However; only one of these quarterbacks would put on the show that we know they are both capable of. And it would be the young gun who would get the better of the vet today.
Florida State would open the ball game with the football in hand. A great opening drive would set up a controversial 4th and short from the 28 yard line. FSU came out in a 3 man set, feeling as though they were outside of their freshman kicker's range. However they quickly decided that wasn't the best route in this scenario and attempted the field goal. Wide right. Virginia Tech would then take over. They, however; would not find much success either and were forced into a quick 3 and out. On the Seminoles next possession, they would not be contained. With 25 ticks left in the opening quarter, Jameis Winston would hook up with Rashad Greene from 19 yards out and the early lead. 7-0 Noles after 1.
The second quarter would start with the Hokies having possession of the ball. However that did not last long as Logan Thomas threw his first of three picks on the day and Florida State found themselves right back in business. Rashad Greene would again get behind the defense, this time from 40 yards out, and find the endzone for the second time. The Seminoles took an early 14-0 lead. Virginia Tech would then come onto the field and flaunt that talented option offense that they have. It took little time for RB T. Gregory to score from 21 yards out making it 14-7 Noles with a minute and a half to go until half. That minute and a half would prove to be just enough from QB Jameis Winston. Winston led his team beautifully down the field as he had done all day, and with 4 seconds left on the clock RB James Wilder Jr. would get his first TD of the game. That would make it 21-7 FSU at the break.
The second half couldn't have started any more disasterous for the Hokies. On their first play from scrimmage, Logan Thomas attempted a pitch which was not properly handled by the back. The ball sat on the ground for a few seconds when FSU LB Christian Jones scooped it up and ran it 11 yards to the house. The Seminoles took a commanding 28-7 lead. The Hokies would answer with another TD run by Gregory, but as the theme all day went; whatever VT did, FSU was sure to do. On their next possession the Seminoles would score thanks to James Wilder Jr. and that put them back up by 21, 35-14.
Florida State would go on to add 10 more points in the final quarter before taking knees to close the ball game out. Final score 45-14 Florida State.
    Key Stats:
Florida State out gained Virginia Tech 414 yards to 301 yards.
Virginia Tech turned the ball over 5 times (4 INTs, 1 Fumble). The Seminoles failed to turn it over once.
The Seminoles held QB Logan Thomas to -20 rushing yards on 7 carries. (He entered the game with 111 yards)
    Players of the Game:
    QB Jameis Winston - 11 for 12, 224 yards, 3 TDs
    [IMG]
RB James Wilder Jr. - 16 carries, 143 yards, 2 TDs

    Week 4

The Hokies make their third straight appearance in the game of the week section. Virginia Tech is looking to rebound from a tough loss to Florida State. After a nearly perfect game against OSU, VT quarterback Logan Thomas struggled in the game against the Seminoles. He will need to play better if VT hopes to beat Clemson. The Tigers were beaten badly by #1 Alabama in week 1 but rebounded by defeating LSU in week 2. Tajh Boyd needs to be a leader for Clemson but he has struggled in the early part of the season; throwing nine interceptions in two games. He has thrown for a little under 700 passing yards and 6 touchdowns, but turnovers against VT will be very costly. WR Sammy Watkins is another player to watch on Clemson. The junior wide receiver has eclipsed 100 yards in both games this season. The atmosphere at Lane Stadium could present some problems for Clemson, especially if the Tigers struggle out of the gate.

Both teams enter this game with a one-loss record as both teams dropped early games against the ACC. Wisconsin has played just twice since their week 1 loss but the Badgers nabbed key victories against Oklahoma State and Michigan State. Wisconsin's defense has stifled opponents in the last two games; giving up just 24 combined points in those games. The Badgers' run defense has been especially strong ranking #3 in the country for per game average. Wisconsin's defense also takes advantage of their opponents' mistakes and the offense limits mistakes. That is an area where Michigan struggles as the Badgers have a -2 turnover ratio through 4 games. Turnovers were a key reason for the week 2 loss against Miami. Devin Gardner was picked off 6 times in that game and Michigan lost a fumble. Gardner has thrown 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in the games following the loss so the coaches have worked with him on protecting the ball.

    Players to watch:
RS-SR QB Curt Phillips - He boasts the second best QB Rating in the Big 10, along with a 9/1 TD to INT ratio.
FR CB Jourdan Lewis - The frosh CB is tied for second in the Big 10 with 3 interceptions

    Over/Under 46.5 points

    Spread 2.5 points Michigan

Nice work. Yeah Phillips has done a nice job keeping the ball out of the other teams hands - thats all I really want him to do. The only reason he has so many TD passes is because Jared Abbrederis is one of the best WRs in the country. Makes him and his 80 OVR rating A LOT better.

#4 Florida State has a tough match with last year's National Championship runner-up Notre Dame. The Irish come into this match with a 3-1 record, with the loss coming against #1 Oklahoma. Notre Dame has not beaten a ranked foe this season and their biggest win is against Michigan State. Florida State enters with a perfect record including wins over Virginia Tech and Wisconsin. James Wilder has carried the load for the Seminoles' offense with 609 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. The rushing attack gives Jameis Winston time to develop as a passer and helps keep the pressure off the young QB. Defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan is another reason for the Noles' success; he has 6 sacks and 8 tackles for a loss. Another FSU defensive standout is cornerback Nick Waisome who leads the Seminoles with 3 interceptions. Vegas oddsmakers believe Notre Dame is overrated and that FSU will walk away with a convincing victory. The win might help the Seminoles move up in the rankings, but Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Florida all boast undefeated records.

    #1 Miami @cadepetty247 at #11 Virginia Tech @xGRIDIRONxGURUx

    Lane Stadium

The Hokies and the Canes matchup will likely decide the Coastal representative for the ACC Championship game. Miami enters the game undefeated and fresh off a win against rival Florida State. The Hokie lone loss this season was against the Seminoles in week 3. Since that game Virginia Tech has won 6 straight games. The key for this game will be whether Virginia Tech's defense can stop Miami's offense. The Hokies have allowed 27 or more points 6 times this season. Miami has scored at least 35 points on offense this season, but the Hurricanes also have some trouble on defense. Miami has allowed 24 or more points in 5 of the past 6 games. The lone exception was the game against Florida State in week 10. Logan Thomas is the player to watch for Virginia Tech; he has passed for more than 2,000 yards and thrown 15 touchdowns. On the other side Miami has Stephen Morris who has 2,446 passing yards and 23 touchdown passes.
