Klaas-Jan Huntelaar set the tone early for visiting Schalke 04 to famed Estadio Vila Belmiro, home of Santos FC. The visitors used some early precision passing to set up Huntelaar's first goal, a header set up by a Raul cross in the box 9 minutes into the campaign. Reeling from giving up such an early goal home team Santos tried to pull one back and nearly succeeded on a long distance shot by Arouca that went over the bar. Schalke however doubled their lead on the 19' minute mark on another beautiful goal by Huntelaar. Santos immediately picked up the pace however could not muster an actual goal but got some really good looks. In the end the rest of the match was an evenly played game with both teams nearly splitting possession. GG Gator

*There are no stats because around the last 5 minutes, the game started to act weird and was having trouble whenever the ball went out of play... it was 2-0 though before this started, and when the match finished, it just froze and never went to the post-match screen. I'll talk more about this bug here in the League Discussion thread.

PETRIC CARRIES HAMBURG TO FIRST VICTORY
Following a disappointing start to the season, Hamburg was hungry for some points and backed by a packed Imtech Arena crowd of 57,274. Both Hamburg and Napoli started strong out of the gate, but nothing materialized early on. About 35(?) minutes in, Mladen Petric grabbed a deflection from the Napoli keeper and slotted it back into the net for a 1-0 lead. Later on in the match, Petric was able to dance his way around to the box and curl one for a beautiful goal and a 2-0 lead. Looking for more later in the match, Petric again tried a masterpiece, using his opposite foot to bend one around the keeper, yet the ball clunked off the post and Petric was denied a hat-trick. Napoli had some attacks of their own as well, yet the Hamburg defenders would not let a defensive lapse similar to the one against Palermo in their opener determine the outcome. GK Frank Rost was able to prevent any goals from Cavani, Hamsik and Lavezzi, and notched his first clean sheet of the season. After the first 2 matches, Hamburg now has 3 points in Serie A.

gg grundle, next time I'll tell my stadium operators not to mess up the television feed!

I was going to keep my player's ratings for the year to have averages, but I'm not too sure I'm gonna stick with that idea. I have no stats from my second game, and I had different ratings than Zikry for this one. For ex., I had Rost at 7.9, Trochowski 7.2, and Ze Roberto 6.9 (but those stayed my top 3). I guess it gives different ratings then for each user? Has anyone else checked this out?

Hmmmm..that's weird Bronco. Yea if that is the case then I'm just gonna keep track of man of the match then, since the ratings aren't accurate.

In case you guys didn't know, the entire team gets rated different on both members' screens as well as man of the match. Other than your own pleasure, I don't think there's much purpose to keep track of these stats.

There should be one MOM between the two teams. Usually it's from the same team on both screens, but the person and the rating has differed in the past in our XBOX league.

    Ratings:

    Di Natale (MoM) 9.0

    C. Zapata 7.8

Udinese traveled to Goodinson Park not knowing what to expect from this Everton team but knew if they played their game they would have a chance to come out with a good result. They found an Everton team that controlled the game for the first 20 mins by possesing the ball and moving it around which is the same game that Udinese tries to play. The first chance came in the 21st minute when Alexis Sanchez beat his defender down the line but couldnt get the ball passed Howard. Udinese then picked up the intensity and preasured Everton and did not let them have time on the ball. Di Natale got the first goal of the season by stealing the ball from the feet of goalie Howard who was dribbling the ball out of his area and did not realized how close Di Natale was to him. Second goal came from a corner which the center back C. Zapata was able to head in the goal. Third and last goal came the 75th minute when Di Natale had a 1 v 1 vs an Everton defender which he beat and placed the ball inside the right post

GG man and good luck the rest of the way

no stats were recorded as we were both logged out of the game after pressing "no" on weather we wanted to go into extra time or pk's

After opening their season with a 3-0 win vs. Everton, Udinese came into their home opener with a very positive mentality and knew that if they played as well as they did their first game, they would have a good chance of coming away with a victory even though they knew very little about the German team. The game was very even throughout and had very few opportunities for both teams in the first half. As the second half went on, both teams started attacking a bit more leaving some holes on their defense – the best chance came late in the game when Udinese forward Di Natale broke through the Schalke defense and was 1 on 1 with the goalie but put the ball just outside the right post.
    GG man and good luck

Late game heroics from Neymar in the 90th minute rewards Santos with 3 points. Literally the last play of the match, Neymar tapped in the game winner of an attempted crossing pass that was tipped by the Genoa goalkeeper.
It was a great match all around from 2 solid teams. Genoa got things kick started in the opening minutes off of a long pass into the bow. Paloschi was there to fire it home after the ball was mishandled by the goalkeeper. After the goal, that seemed to ignite Santos. They were without question the more aggressive of the 2 teams. The majority of the match was played in the Genoa half. Santos almost had the tying goal within minutes of the Genoa goal. Neymar placed a shot wide on an open net. In the 22 minute came the answer, Neymar headed in a short cross to tie the match.
Genoa played disciplined defense by committing zero fouls. Elano from Santos had zero chance to attempt one of his patented free kicks. Genoa's defense used its strength and muscle to push Santos off the ball consistently. Overall, just a great match.
    Great Game @ohdaseau
