Miami(OH) Welcomes Goff!
FS Allen Goff could not wait any longer and just decided to commit instantly. Miami(OH) definitely had their eyes on this kid and when Goff got wind of it he couldn't wait to see Coach Sawemoff walk through the door. Allen is big for a free safety, standing at 6'2" and weighing in at 208lbs. He accelerates really fast and has decent speed. Those two attributes will help him become a lot better in coverage where he struggles.
2011 Ball State Recruiting Update
Position (Pos Rank)
B+ Speed, B+ Agility, B Jumping
Ball State picks up 3 star CB Jason Wells this week. BSU beat out Indiana for his services. He has good speed, acceleration and agility that gives him a good chance at playing time this fall. His man and zone coverage skills aren't impressive, but his athleticism is something that Ball State cannot do without.
Pierce Commits After Win:
OLB James Pierce will be a Redhawk come Fall 2012. The 6'0" 248lb LB decided to commit after watching Miami beat the Golden Gophers 60-42. He is very under rated as a one star and will contribute in his second year. For his size he can coverage decently and the only thing that hurts him right now is his tackling ability. That will change once the Miami coaching staff gets him into the weight room.
2011 Ball State Recruiting Update
Position (Pos Rank)
B+ Speed, B+ Agility, B Jumping
New Albany, IN
B Speed, B Agility, B+ Press
Ball State grabs another 3 star CB Reggie Gore. Gore will be a good addition to the secondary next season and may get a real look to start. He is quick and athletic, which makes up for his ok Man/Zone coverage skills.
=============== Akron Zips (2-4) ===============
In recruiting news, the following Akron targets have announced their decisions:
- (*****) HB Dennis Moore has committed to Oklahoma
Kasper, I thought we couldn't go after 5 Star recruits? Hell I don't even have a 4 Star on my board lol
This was in the Preseason. I've been too lazy to take him off my board sorry
Yeah I'm fine with 4staes if you wanna try.. no 5 stars thoughdi
Run Miami Run!
Today it was a good day to be a Redhawk with three commitments. All three will help the Miami run game tremendously. For some reason the coaching staff forgot to recruit a FB so the first thing Sawemoff did was go after one. FB Martin Kirk is balanced runner and blocker. He is 6'2"/227lb and hails from Gahana, OH. Kirk will be fighting off another FB that committed just a few minutes after the Kent State game (story coming shortly), but he brings with him C Speed, C- Strength, and C- Run Block.
The next two recruits both play Center and are both . Dave Manson and Adam Dunn will definitely be acquainted by the end of spring ball since they will both graduate high school this December. Manson is the bigger one weighing in at 286 and stands at 6'1''. The Michigan native got on Miami's radar because of his physical style of play. He has C Strength, Run Block Strength, and Impact Blocking. Adam Dunn maybe a tad smaller in weight, 194lb, but he is a little more flexible that Manson with his blocking ability. The 6'2" hogmiley has C Strength, Run Block Strength, and Pass Block Strength.
OLB 6'4'' 222 lbs Peter Hudson from Shiloh, Ohio. Got him earlier in the season. B- speed and decent all-around stats. His size makes him a good fit for OLB as I try and transition to the 3-4 defense.
Finally Some Defense and of Course Offense
After an exciting win over Kent State, Miami(OH) received five more recruits. Three from the defensive side and two from the offensive side. Lets start off with offense.
As I talked about last week FB Martin Kirk will be joined by Morgan Larson who resides from Pecos, Tx. The Texas native is smaller than Kirk, 5'11"/221lb, but he is just as fast and a better pass blocker. The only thing that he really needs to work on is getting into the weight room and run blocking. By pure ability Kirk may have the advantage. The second offensive recruit is G Bobby Swain. He is a giant at 6'5"/272lb with great NFL potential. He is a pure run blocker which will really help him with Miami's run style. Bobby is strong and looks to pave running lanes for Erik Finklea sooner than later.
Miami would also like to introduce their first two recruits to the defensive side of the ball. MLB John Lawson and DE Jermaine Stephens will look to fight for a spot on the Redhawk defense next season. John has an easier road to seeing a lot of play time due to the lack of depth at the MLB position. For his 6'2"/225lb frame he has B- Speed, C+ Strength, and C Block Shedding. Jermaine on the other hand will have a harder road to becoming the star on the line but he will be taught by a very talented group. He comes in at 6'3"/250lb and has decent moves, all rated C, C-, and C+. Lastly we welcome OLB John Gandy. He pretty much made the decision to come here after Miami beat Cincinnati but wanted to hold out a little longer to see if the Bearkats could offer more. He is tall at 6'2" and is lighter at 207lb for an OLB but his smaller build will help be all over the field. His B- Speed will help him in coverage, and his C- Strength and Tackle will help slow down on coming offensive players.
Western Michigan Signings:
CB Jared Jackson 6'2 180 B Speed, B- Acceleration
Jared is a typical player that is still very raw skill wise. With his 6'2 height, he could eventually be moved to one of the Safety positions if needed, but for now, will be at the CB spot. He will be redshirted next year and most likely will not see significant playing time till his 4th and 5th year on campus.
CB Scott Green 6'0 190 B+ ACC, C- Man coverage
Scott is a little better skill wise than Jared, but still will most likely see a redshirt. He could see a lot of playing time his redshirt Freshman year, and end up having a good career as a Bronco.
WR Dan Reid 6'0 161 B- Speed, B- Carrying
Dan is a receiver that needs to add a lot of weight, and for that reason, he will redshirt. Cornerbacks would kill him at the line against the press right now. If he ever wants to play, he'll need to get a lot stronger. Look for Dan to make an impact during his 4th year on campus.
*All signings are from the state of Michigan. Trying not to let the local "talent" (and I use that word loosely) leave the state.
I'm going to post up my recruits so far tonight-- I suggest everyone do so (except for the poor folks who havent signed anyone )
BREAKING NEWS!!!! AKRON GETS IT's FIRST COMMITMENT OF THE YEAR!!!
Northern Illinois is off and running on the recruiting trail, with 4 commitments so far on the year. Three of the commits are from Illinois, which many fans have complimented the new coach on. "It's great to see in state kids playing for the Huskies," said one fan, "It gives it more of a true 'us' feeling."
The first commit was the lone out of stater; 2 star FS Sam Rogers hails from Independence, MO. He has ample athleticism to go with his good size for the position, and given a couple years of development he could really be a good player. He is also a heavy hitter which gives him that little extra "spark" on defense.
Second came 3 star FS Bryan Graham out of Granite City, IL. Bryan doesn't have great athleticism, but is good at man coverage. Look for him to maybe move to SS as the FS spot is more of a centerfield position in Kasper's defense. He could be useful coming down and playing in the box.
Matthew Brown, an offensive lineman from Downers Grove, IL, is the third commit and is a physically big kid at 6'4 300 lbs. He is a jack of all trades and master of none, so look for him to develop for a few years before hitting the field for meaningful playing time (hopefully).
Next is another offensive lineman; 6'3 274 lb Randy Collins- hailing from Harvey, IL. He needs a lot of work on his technique, but has potential off his raw physical strength. Another developmental player for Kasper to work with.
Miami Lands Last Defensive Recruit
MLB Kyle Concepcion rounds out the last defensive recruit for the Redhawks. The 6'0/222lb Michigan native has his eyes set on starting all four years his is there and he has great chance to do it. With his C+ Speed, C Strength, and C- Block Shed he looks to become a monster in the middle of a depleted Miami defense.
NIU Inks 3 More
ATH (QB) Allen Ross
This "athlete" should transfer to the QB position- though he will need to prove his athleticism to run this offense. He should be capable of throwing well after a year or two, but he should be interesting to watch and see how he finds a niche in this offense (if he even does).
OL Pedro Booker
Pedro is a good, solid built kid at 6'2 280. He should help bolster the depth of the line, and is very well rounded for a two star out of HS. He might end up being pretty solid actually.
WR Reggie Ferguson
The Huskies are looking to add some explosiveness to the receiving corps, and Reggie has solid speed. He will need some polish, but this Wisconsin native should make a solid name for himself come his junior and senior years.
Miami Finishes Recruiting Trail!
MIami(OH) welcomes there last recruit for the 2012 Class, G Victor Larson. Larson hails from Mechanicsburg, PA is kind of undersized at 6'3"/279lb but is strong for being a . He will probably be redshirted but his skills are raw, C+ Strength, Run Block and C Run Block Strength.
Separate names with a comma.
