TCU Goes Up Early And Never Looks Back
The Horned Frogs season started with a bang and never looked back as TCU dominated PAC-12 opponent ASU. Not even a minute had ran off the clock when TCU got on the board first. On the 2nd play of the game, Pachall hooked up with Dawson for a 66 yard TD pass. After the defense held the Sun Devils and forced them to punt, Pachall led a long drive that was capped by a Waylan James 3 yard TD run. TCU's special teams also got in on the action as they forced a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and recovered on the ASU 22 yard line. Pachall made an amazing play as he dropped back and was pressured by a LB and cut through the line and ran 22 yards untouched for another TD. At the end of the first quarter, TCU looked unstoppable and was up 21-0. The second quarter was a real back and forth game as both teams countered each other. The lone score in the 2nd half came after ASU was intercepted in the endzone. The Horned Frogs used a combination of the run and the pass to move down the field. Waylan James took it in from 3 yards out to give TCU a 28-0 lead at the half.
ASU must have made some adjustments in the locker room as TCU was pretty much held in check the whole second half. Pachall didn't have much help as multiple balls hit his WRs in the hands and they were dropped. Both defenses seemed to know what the other team was calling as the whole 3rd quarter was a punt fest. It wasn't until late in the 3rd that the ASU offense finally got on a roll and started moving the ball down the field. QB Eubanks called the hurry up offense to perfection causing TCU to get flustered and tired and drove down the field with ease. After a 3 minute drive, Eubanks hooked up with Pickens for the 6 yard TD. ASU finally got on the board and was down 3 scores 28-7 at the end of the 3rd. The TCU defense played lights out in the 4th. After a TCU punt that was downed at the 3, ASU tried to run a speed option, but it was gobbled up and Eubanks couldn't get out of the endzone and was tackled for a safety. TCU put its 2nd team in with 3 minutes left and were able to milk the clock. Backup QB Brown was stopped at the 1 on 3rd and goal with less than a minute left and TCU was forced to kick a field goal.
STAT OF THE GAME
The Horned Frog defense wreaked havok, tallying 7 sacks on the day. DE Maponga led the team with 4 on the day.
SMU Routed By Texas
Austin, TX- David Ash looked like a completely different QB this week and his performance gave the Texas Longhorns a dimension that opened up running lanes for the RB all game long. Adding a dominant defense allowed the Horns to score a 62-7 win.
Kenny Vaccaro picked off 2 more passes to give himself 3 for the season. TheTexas defense picked off former QB Garrett Gilbert 6 times including 2 pick 6s an it could have been 3 if Texas didn't take a knee instead of scoring with under 3 minutes left in the 4th. Sheroid Evans picked off the 1st 2 passes of his career in limited action in the second half.
True freshman Johnathan Gray scored the 1st TD of his career on a 66 yard play in the 4th. And we mentioned Ash before, but his stats were unbelievable. 12-14 for 200 yards and 2 TD tosses to Marquise Goodwin. The only 2 incompletions for Ash were a hail Mary on the final snap of the 1st half, and an option pitch that was ruled an incomplete shovel pass. He also scored on a 46 yard option keeper in the second half. Texas didn't attempt a pass after the starters came out in the 3rd and pounded the ball over and over with Joe Bergeron and Gray.
Offensive Player of the Game:
David Ash 12-14 for 200 yards, 2 TDs, and 4 carries for 25 yards and a TD
Defensive Player of the game:
Kenny Vaccaro: 2 interceptions 1 TD
Oklahoma Cruises Past Air Force 34-0
Not much to say in this one as Landry Jones didn't play the second half. Jones finished with 213 yards, 2 TDs and an INT. Blake Bell was meh in second half relief duty going 4-7 for 19 yards. My defense was the story of the day as they held Air Force to 77 total yards and 4 turnovers (ouch right?). I guess I'm not used to playing with such good teams haha.

Kansas State signs first recruit of the year:
McCarty is a solid 3 star recruit that will probably see a redshirt and progress into a solid player for the Wildcat defense in years to come.
Canes' Humbled by the Wildcats Senior Quarterback, Collin Klein showed the country just why the Kansas State University football team is a real contender. Klein completed 13 of 19 pass attempts - three of which were a touchdown. He also ran one in on a QB sneak from the goal line bringing his total touchdown to four for the game. Miami's defense could not stop the Wildcat offense all day. The Kansas State defense played just as impressively. They gave up only one touchdown on the day that came from a short field after a forced fumble gave the Hurricane offense the ball on the 18 yard line. If Kansas State is going to make a run for a conference title this is the year. They have seniors holding down much of the starting squads with not a lot of depth behind them. This one-sided affair has the Hurricanes breathing down Al Golden's neck and him on the coaching hot seat.
