Let's try for tonight. I can't do tomorrow late, so it would be Friday if we don't. How early can you be on after work? 11:30 central? That'll be 12:30 eastern for me, but I could do it.

Aztecs Use Strong Running Game to Survive Against Hawaii
    San Diego St. ( dj illmatic 23 )- 24
    Hawaii (CPU)- 17
San Diego St. once again relyed on a strong running attack and a couple of big plays in the passing game to defeat the visiting Rainbow Warriors 24-17. Adam Muema led the Aztecs rushing attack once again as he ran for 113 yards on 27 carries and 1 TD. However the biggest play of the day did not come from Muema, but another Aztec RB, freshman Dwayne Garrett scored a 50 yard TD on his only carry of the day. This proved to be the game winner as it put SDSU up 10 going into the fourth quarter. Hawaii would tack on a FG with 2:13 seconds to play in the game to pull within 7. With all three time-outs, Hawaii decided to kick-off and rely on their defense to get a stop. However, it was not to be as the Aztecs picked up two first downs and ran out the clock.
While the rushing attack was the star of the show, Ryan Katz had an extremely efficient day going 10-13 for 193 yards with 1 TD, and more importantly, 0 turnovers. The two biggest pass plays of the day came on plays in which Katz drew the defense offsides with his snap count. Katz used these free plays to throw deep knowing an interception by the defense would be nullified by the penalty. The first bomb ended up being a 34 yard TD to WR Colin Lockett, and the second a 50 yard reception by WR Brice Butler. The Aztec defense had one of its poorer efforts of the season. The team only had two sacks and forced 0 turnovers, although they had seveal opprotunities at interceptions. Hawaii's RB Joey Iosefa ran all over the Aztec defense accounting for 172 yards on 20 carries with 1 TD. This kept the Warriors in the game until the end. The Aztecs move to 5-1 on the season as they travel to Houston next week for an anticipated Big East match-up.
    Offensive Player of the Game
    SDSU HB Adam Muema: 27 carries/ 113 yards/ 1 TD
    Defensive Player of the Game
SDSU ROLB Josh Gavert: 9 tackles/ 1 sack

Air Force Slips By Rival Colorado State 24-21 In Wes Cobb Show

Senior WB Wes Cobb was explosive today, rushing for 96 yards on just 6 attempts while tallying 3 touchdowns. The 5'9 former FB benefited from some great decisions by QB Connor Dietz on some pitches. The Falcons were outgained 405 to 227, yet were able to turn the Rams over 3 times including 2 picks and a fumble. Cobb now leads the team in rushing with 231 yards on 29 attempts and 5 touchdowns.

Following the game Coach Kasper addressed the media regarding rumors about a possible offensive switch. One report inquired about the idea of going to a more spread option (read option) attack, pointing out it is something the unit had experience with during last years coaching regime.

"We are, statistically, one of the absolute worst teams in the country offensively. We have been winnong on our #2 ranked turnover differential and top ten rushing defense so far this year. Obviously we are going to look at some things to help us score more points. If you look back at the Houston game, we were very very fortunate to win that game- if nearly every ball wouldn't have bounced our way, and their QB wouldn't have been slinging the ball like Hellen Keller we would not have won that game."

"All of that said, we are still 4-1 and sitting in a pretty good spot. Houston had a solid gameplan to defend our offense, but we started to figure out some things during the game. For now, we are sticking with what is working. If things change, you could certainly see some different looks on offense. Aint broke don't fix it.."

Bulls Offense (Daniels) Plays Horribly, Shocks Owls On Dunkley Return

    South Florida 16
    Temple 13

B.J. Daniels plays the worst game of his career, but USF still gets the win following a shocking kickoff return by WR Chris Dunkley. It was a defensive showcase, with both QBs throwing at least 2 INTs. Defenses made stops all day and everyone was expecting the offenses to wake up, but they didn't. USF scored first with a 43 yard field goal. Following a Temple punt, USF got into field goal range again and made a 48 yarder. The USF defense made a huge play before half, intercepting the Temple QB, but Daniels threw what would be his 2nd INT of the game deep in Temple territory. Following the INT, Temple was able to drive down the field and get on the board with a 28 yard field goal.

The second half was more of the same. Both defenses played tough, Daniels threw another interception and USF killed a Temple drive on the USF side of the field. The Bulls took a 9-3 lead at the end of the 3rd by way of a Bonani 21 yard FG after USF was stopped on 3rd and goal. In the 4th, Daniel threw his 3rd interception on the day, which led to a Temple touchdown to take the 10-9 lead. Daniels turned it over AGAIN on their next drive and Temple was able to pull ahead even more 13-9. On the ensuing kickoff, Chris Dunkley shocked the stadium as he sped by the Temple coverage team to a 104 yard kickoff return, which gave USF the lead once again. With under 2 minutes left, Temple was driving but was stopped at around the 40 and had 4th and 2. Instead of trying to go for it, they attempted a long 56 yard FG that was short by about a yard. USF survives a game they shouldn't have won 16-13.

Fresno State Gets First Conference Win in 21-17 Victory Over Louisville

Fresno State's Derek Carr had a season worst 4 interceptions, but came through for the Bulldogs with the game-winning 29 yard touchdown pass to Josh Harper late in the fourth quarter. The Bulldog defense put the game on their shoulders in the final three minutes, making two defensive stops in their own territory to clinch the victory. The two teams combined for 7 interceptions, with three of Derek Carr's coming at the one yard line. But the most crucial interception of the day was made by Fresno State's Beau Fryer who returned his pick 50 yards for a touchdown.

Louisville took the first lead of the game on a 5 yard touchdown pass from QB Bridgewater. The Bulldogs quickly answered back with a 6 yard touchdown pass to even the score. A Cardinals field goal would give them a 10-7 edge at halftime. Fryer's 50 yard pick-6 gave Fresno State their first lead of the game, but it would be short lived as Louiville's Dominique Brown broke a HB screen for a 24 yard touchdown just over a minute later. Derek Carr connected to Josh Harper for a 29 yard touchdown pass to give the Bulldogs the lead and eventually the win.

2 road losses by a combined 7 points. We should be fine, and there'd be nothing to worry about if my receiver didn't drop an easy game winning TD in the endzone.
