Auburn Opens SEC play with a big win in cow bell country, SO QB Frazier played a great 3 qts of football completing 12/17 passes for 205 and 5 tds he also add 54 on the ground.
Carolina EscapesSurvives Late Comeback by Wake The Tar Heels picked up their first win of the season in their ACC opener this week. Carolina's offense started fast and jumped out to a 21-3 lead by halftime, but the defense seemed to kind of take the 2nd half off. By the end of the 3rd, the Demon Deacons had pulled to within one score but UNC answered back with a 2-yard TD run by HB Romar Morris to pull ahead by 15 with just over 6 minutes remaining. Wake Forest attempted a furious comeback after scoring on a 5-yard TD grab by TE Anthony Rook with 1:34 remaining. The Deacs were able to recover the onside kick and cut the deficit to 2 with a 59-yard TD bomb to WR Terence Davis with 1:27 remaining. UNC recovered Wake's second onside kick attempt and were able to survive after running out the clock. Next week, the Tar Heels returned home to face Idaho.
Week 2 was bit a of a scare for the Huskers. Taylor Martinez had another decent day though going 8/15 for 164 3 td's and 1 pick. The Huskers went into half with a 14-3 lead and put up another TD early in the third qtr to go up 21-3, then things started going the Bruins way. A good drive by the Bruins ended with a TD pass to Jerry Rice Jr, then a sack and fumble on the ensuing husker drive deep in Nebraska territory lead to another easy TD. The Bruins then picked off Martinez's only bad pass of the day and turned that into 7 more points to take a 3 point lead early in the fourth quarter. However shortly after that Martinez made up for it with a 57 yd TD pass to Kenny Bell who ended up with a huge day hauling in 6 passes for 131 yds and 3 TDs. Rex Burkhead had a great day with 152 yds on the ground and finished off the Bruins charge with his second rushing TD of the day to cap a 35-24 victory on the road. It wasn't pretty but it counts as a W. Will Compton lead the D with 7 tackles including 2 sacks. The Huskers head back home to play Arkansas State before heading on the road again for a big matchup with North Carolina.
AM hosted their first SEC conference game with Florida taking a trip to College Station. Johnny Manziel busted out on the first play for a big 60 yard run setting up a A&M TD. However, Johnny had another questionable game in the air again, showing flashes of genius but had a couple of interceptions. He now has 5 INTs compared to his 3TDs, which Coach Mosley has told us he has been focusing on for the next game. The running game stayed solid, with Christine Michael adding a few more TDs. All in all the Ags ended the game with a W but showed plenty of room to improve against SMU.
