RODDY WHITE SHINES IN SECOND GAME BACK FROM INJURY

Atlanta, GA - The Atlanta Falcons played host to their NFC division foes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and came away victorious in overtime, 30-24. Roddy White caught 2 TD passes from QB Matt Ryan, who threw for 3 TDs total in the game, on 6 receptions for 155 yards. Early in the 2nd QTR, tied game at 7-7, White caught a deep in route over the middle, wiggled past 2 defenders and led a foot race into the EZ for a 77 yard TD. "I'm happy to be back and helping my team make plays to win games. A lot of pressure was put on the WRs when I was out, but now we all share the burden together once again. Getting one touchdown in a game is big, getting two is huge, and I am excited to make that kind of effort for my teammates" White said after the game. In his absence, Julio Jones had put up quality stats, but the rest of the receiving core struggled to make consistent plays. With White back, to include the recent addition of long-time Falcon Michael Jenkins via FA, Matt Ryan once again has a selection of quality targets at his disposal. The Falcons' defense opened the scoring with a strip-sack fumble returned for a TD. Defensive captain MLB Sean Weatherspoon, starting at MLB in place of the injured Butler, said about the defense's effort today "...it was great all around. They [the bucs] made some plays on us, we did enough to keep it close though and the offense capitalized on it.' Weatherspoon had a decisive 4th QTR interception that led to a FG which forced the game into OT.

    JETS EXACT REVENGE ON PATS

Ever since the Jets lost to the Patriots in Week 2 to the score of 38-31, the Jets have been foaming at the mouth to play the Patriots. In that game, the Jets held Brady to under 200 yards passing and picked him off 3 times. "We really gave up the ball too many times, with Geno throwing 4 picks...we have to manage the game better for him," said coach Reece Mills before the game.

This game was essentially filled with the same amount of turnovers from the first game, with 7 turnovers in the game but the Jets were doing all the takeaways in this game. The Jets picked off HOF QB Tom Brady 6 times on the game as again he had a helluva time moving the ball against the Jets secondary. Antonio Cromartie will be in Brady's dreams all week as Cro nabbed 3 of the 6 interceptions on the game. NFL leader in INT's, Dawan Landry, picked off his 8th pass on the year in the endzone to end a long drive by the Patriots on one possession. With so many turnovers, the Jets offense delivered quite a few big blows in the game.

Geno Smith completed just 8 of 14 passes on the game but threw for 312 yards thanks to 4 big plays down field in the game. "Kerley Fries" had a 80yd reception for a TD, Kellen Winslow had a 51 yard reception and 60 yard TD reception, while Alex Green had a 44 yard reception off a screen. "We lacked big plays in the last game so it was great to see us break loose for some big gains out there. Geno Smith had his first turnover free game as he continues to look like the Jets franchise QB for the forseeable future. In the end the Jets would have great contributions from both side of the ball and a 31-21 victory to improve to 5-2 on the year.

    Dolphins set the tone

The Miami dolphins returned starters Ryan tannehill and cam wake this week. Hoping the return of RT17 would improve the dolphin Qb situation was a huge hope as he had struggled early in the year taking to many risk. However in this game he would be on target and efficient going 15/18 with 1 int. Tannehill constantly moved the chains and put the dolphins in good spots on offense.

The dolphin defense was everywhere as they have been all year. Forcing turnovers and long drives. The dolphins would force 3 int as they had ej manual moving and confused coverage wise. The buffalo offense with out spiller lacked the big play opportunity as Fred Jackson grinded out 18 carries not going over the 70 yard mark.

Overall the game was close with the difference being turnovers by the bills. Both running games were below average and never generated huge numbers. The matchup in a few weeks should be interesting.
