Aggies win in a sloppy SEC Battle of the Top 15
A&M looked sharp offensively, except two poorly thrown balls during a wet day in College Station. The Ags put up 48 points over the #5 team in the country, 2 through the air, two on the ground, one fumble return and one kickoff return. The defense played well but gave up over 400 yards through the air out of the 421 yards total allowed. They were able to pick off LSU 3 times during the game but the pass defense has to get better. A&M needs a win against Alabama but more importantly Auburn if they want to compete for a BCS of Conference Championship game.

Tar Heels Get Back to .500
UNC QB Bryn Renner connected with WR Erik Highsmith on a 62-yard hail mary TD as time expires, and Carolina survived a scare from the Blue Devils. These bitter rivals battled back and forth for 60 minutes, much like they do during the ACC Basketball season, as the score stayed tied just about until there was 1 second remaining in regulation. Carolina QB Renner threw for 212 yards and 2 TDs, and HB AJ Blue had another good game in place of the injured HB Giovani Bernard rushing for 127 yards. The Tar Heels held a 10 - 3 lead at the half, but Duke tied it up on their first drive of the 2nd half with a 46-yard TD pass from QB Sean Renfree. With just under 6 minutes remaining, the Blue Devils took a 3-point lead with a 27-yard FG but UNC answered with a 39-yard FG of their own to tie the game again at 13 all with just 3:10 left in regulation. This setup what would be a wild finish. On the next possession, Carolina's defense forced a three and out and QB Renner led the offense deep into Blue Devil territory. Unfortunately, for the Tar Heels, Duke FS Jordan Byas made a great play at the goal line and picked off a 3rd down pass at 1-yard line. Duke QB Sean Renfree preceded to lead the Blue Devils across the 50, but were halted at the Carolina 38-yard line which setup a 55-yard game-winning FG attempt with :05 left. Duke K Jack Willoughby came up just short and somehow 1 second still remained on the clock. UNC took over and threw up a hail mary attempt that was miraculously caught by WR Erik Highsmith who made a Duke defender miss and ran in for the game-winning TD!
Next week, North Carolina hosts another rival in the 17th ranked NC State Wolfpack (6-1).
