Patriots win the season opener in against the Steelers by a final score of 37-30.

The first half was dominated by the Patriots beginning with two passing touchdown scores from Tom Brady in the first quarter. Big Ben threw an interception and Le'Veon Bell fumbled only adding to the Steelers first half woes. The Patriots were able to capitalize adding two FGs and another TD before the half giving the Patriots a 27-0 lead. The Patriots recieved the ball in the second half but ended up punting the ball soon afterwards. After another unsuccesful Steelers drive they punted the ball to Julian Edelman who muffed the punt. The Steelers recovered the ball and maintained possesion. From there the Steelers were able to score, taking advantage of the turnover and giving them their first points of the day. Despite scoring 30 points the Steelers were never able to gain much of a rhythm until it was too late. The Patriots were able to add another passing touchdown and another FG to put the game out of reach. Le'Veon Bell was unable to get going on the ground and 3rd down proved to be troublesome for the Steelers all game giving the Patriots an important win early on in the season. Michael Vick threw a TD pass in place for the injured Roethlisberger in the 4th quarter.

    Raiders - Bengals

This game started out early with Charles Woodson getting a sack to cause a 3 and out to start the game. The Raiders got ball with Murray finishing the drive. Dalton and Carr went back and fourth to make it 14-14 and Roy helu bounced a kick return to the 7 and the game was never the same. Hill fumbled on the next drive and almost every Raiders drive started in Bengals territory. With a 91% 3rd down conversion rate the Raiders held on to the ball. AJ McCaron was perfect in relief for the Bengals and AJ Green made a spectacular catch for a huge gain and TD. The Bengals injured Murray for three weeks which is a huge loss for the Oakland Raiders. Cooper caught 2 late 4th quarter TDs on drags where the Bengals were caught blitzing to stop the chew clock. He made insane break tackles to take it to the house. All in all strong start for the Raiders where it looked like the offense shined, but it was really defense and special teams putting them in super easy situations to score

    Al Davis Jr. 1-0

    Thriller in DC
If the season opener is any indication of how this season will play out for the Redskins and Dolphins, then fans of both sides will be in for excitement and a side of heart disease. RG3 in a much embattled offseason was named the starter prior to kickoff, another chance for the once deemed franchise QB to regain the trust of coach Jay Gruden. Griffen lit up the Dolphins defense for much of the game until an interception late helped setup the Dolphins to go ahead in this one. While RG3 was efficient for most of the game it was the running game that both teams relied on in this one as Miami's Lamar Miller and the Redskins' Alfred Morris combined for 382 yards on the ground and 50 carries. The Redskins trailed early 7-0 but were able to bounce back and take a 20-7 lead into the half. Starting with the ball the Redskins drove down the field only to miss a field goal that would have put them up 16 in the 3rd quarter. The Dolphins would use that momentum to score a couple touchdowns and take a 24-20 lead in the 4th quarter. Matt Jones scored on a 8 yard throw and catch from RG3 to put the 'Skins up 27-24 with only 4 minutes remaining. The Dolphins rallied and were able to kick a short field goal to force OT. In overtime Miami would start with the ball and get as far as the Washington 6 yard line before Ryan Tannehill would throw his 2nd INT of the game (both to MLB Keenan Robinson). The Redskins were unable to connect on a couple short passes and set the Dolphins up in good field position. With a heavy dose of Lamar Miller who scored on a long TD run to give us our final score of 33-27.

    Key Players

    Robert Griffin III - 21 of 32 - 228 PY - 3 TD 1 INT - 23 RY
    Alfred Morris - 28 ATT - 148 RY
    Keenan Robinson - 10 TAK - 3 TFL - 2 INT

    Ryan Tannehill - 20 of 37 - 231 PY - 0 TD 2 INT
    Lamar Miller - 22 ATT - 234 RY - 2 TD
