Iowa survives tough test to hand #7 Penn State their first loss of season

The first half of this game saw 0 punts as each team was able manage their way down field with ease. It was a forced FG and late INT by the Hawkeyes defense that allowed them to take a 21-10 lead into the break.
The defenses showed up a little bit in the 2nd half as each team was finally held to punts. And INT's by both teams became a factor.

Iowa was able to keep the 2 score lead heading into the fourth quarter. Penn St. would to kick off the 4th. And on the ensuing possesion Iowa QB J. Rudock would throw an INT setting up Penn St. with a long FG and allowing them within 1 point.

However, Rudock would respond by hitting TE C. Fiedorowicz on a play action pass for a 30 yard TD and to go back up by 8 points. Penn State had another chance late in the game and were driving, but CB M. Fleming got his 2nd INT of the game off Nitney Lions QB . C. Hackenberg, effectively ending the game.

Iowa now improves to 7-1 on the season and is looking forward to their final 4 games, against Northwestern, #15 Wisconsin, #4 Michigan and #5 Nebraska. They will have their hands full but with a few breaks could set themselves up very nicely.

Georgia Tech has finally found some success on the ground after having back to back games rushing for over 300+ yards. The Yellow Jacket offense exploded for 45 points as they ran for 393 yards. Quarterback Vad Lee rushed for a school record of 5 touchdowns, while A back Synjyn Days, and B back David Sims ran for one TD each. The Georgia Tech defense came to play as they forced Syracuse quarterback Drew Allen to throw two interceptions and the Yellow Jacket defense came away with five sacks.

It was all Hurricanes against UNC on Saturday afternoon. The run game for Miami was practically unstoppable. All American running back Duke Johnson rushed for over 170 yards and the team combined for over 220 yards. Early on it looked like the Tar Heels would keep up but the Miami offense was just too much. Heading into the locker room at halftime, Miami led 21-3 and extended the lead to 28-3 late in the 4th quarter. Again, starting quarterback Stephen Morris was less then stellar for the Hurricanes but it was better than his dismal performance against Ohio State. Miami moved to 3-4 and 3-1 in conference and 1st in the Coastal Division. If the Canes can win out they will have a spot in the ACC championship.
