    Quarterfinals Preview

PREVIEW TIME! We're down to the Elite 8 round, so who will be advancing to be among the Final 4?

    Zikry (2nd in Serie A, 6-4-1; Cup Results: W 3-1 vs. B. M'gladbach, D 0-0 vs. St-Etienne, W 3-0 vs. Fluminense, W 2-0 vs. Hamburger SV)
    guayo10 (1st in Serie C, 13-1-1; Cup Results: W 1-0 vs. Swansea City, W 1-0 vs. Seattle Sounders, W 3-1 vs. Feyenoord, W 1-0 vs. Norwich City)
New team, but same old Zikry. Sitting in his usual 2nd-place spot in Serie A, Zikry appears posied for another deep Coppa run. Lyon has just 1 loss in 11 Serie A games and are led by a high-flying attack. With 2.36 goals per game, Lyon leads Serie A in that category and ranks second overall in all of TFS. With no problem in finding the net, Lyon leads Serie A in goal differential as well. Lisandro Lopez alone might be enough to will Lyon to victory, but the real intriguing part of this matchup will be to see how Barcelona B matches up. Following the offseason mini-tourney where the two managers played to a draw, it was Zikry who set the Barca B manager as the Serie C pre-season favorite. And in fact, Barcelona B has looked a lot more like their senior squad counterpart in Serie C, taking 40 out of a possible 45 points thus far. Barcelona B has been racking up the points thanks in part to leading Serie C in both goals for and goals against per game. Barcelona B has also earned three impressive 1-0 Coppa victories against quality managers, but will they be able to shutout the French powerhouse too?
    Prediction: Lyon 2-0

    rschwep (5th in Serie A, 3-4-4; Cup Results: W 1-0 vs. Stoke City, W 2-0 vs. VfL Wolfsburg, W 3-2 vs. Ajax)
    WingedHelmet (1st Serie B, 8-3-3; Cup Results: W 1-0 vs. PSV Eindhoven, W 3-0 vs. Sunderland, W 3-2 vs. Sao Paulo, W 5-3 vs. Bologna)
Ever since reaching Serie A, Hannover 96's manager has been a steady, consistent mid-table team. It's not different this year, as Hannover currently sits in 5th place in Serie A. But one hurdle that rschwep has been unable to overcome in recent seasons is getting past the Quarterfinals. Three times, rschwep has had his run end in this round. With a plethora of attacking options though, Hannover always seems to have fresh legs pushing their attack. Those fresh legs will certainly be needed in this match to break down West Ham. West Ham is currently tied for the best goals against average (1.00) in Serie B. In fact, sitting in first place in Serie B, it's as if the club who won Serie A under CxMacx10's watch appears to be playing just as well under a new manager. Don't expect WingedHelmet to let up anytime soon either- after winning both Serie C and the Coppa Confederazione a season ago, this manager is quickly becoming the next hotshot looking to quickly reach Serie A. This match will certainly be an interesting test for both sides and a good test of how Serie B's best would matchup against a Serie A regular.
    Prediction: West Ham 2-0

    Broncos218 (1st in Serie A, 7-2-2; Cup Results: W 4-1 vs. Ajax, D 1-1 vs. VfB Stuttgart, W 3-0 vs. VfL Wolfsburg)
    juanchoCT14 (6th in Serie A, 3-3-4; Cup Results: W 2-0 vs. Sao Paulo, L 0-3 vs. West Ham, W 2-1 vs. PSV Eindhoven, W 5-1 vs. Corinthians)
It must finally be summertime in Russia, as the club from Makhachkala appears to be heating up as the season goes along. Anzhi currently sits atop the Serie A table and has been led by a strong defense. After two seasons in Anzhi that saw plenty of goals on both sides of the pitch, the club has been remade into a low-scoring defensive force. The club leads Serie A with just 0.64 goals allowed per game, and that has been vital in offsetting the club's measly 1.09 goals scored per game. Meanwhile, Sunderland appears to be clumped up in the middle of Serie A, with balance on offense and defense. The biggest factor in this game could be the play of Sunderland attacking mid Stephane Sessegnon. Sessegnon has been largely dormant in Serie A play, yet leads the team in scoring in Coppa play and has racked up 2 MOTM performances, putting him in the competition's Golden Ball race. Anzhi got the better of Sunderland on Matchday 11 earlier this season with a 2-1 win, yet the two managers have split their 10 career head-to-head matchups with 3 wins each and 4 draws. Someone will have to come out on top here, with the two's most recent matchup perhaps most telling of how this next game will play out.
    Prediction: Anzhi 1-0
