This was a standout year for goalkeepers in the league. 6 TFSerie A goalkeepers had 8+ clean sheets, and almost every keeper in the entire TFSerie had at least 2 shutouts on the season. But one shot-stopper stood out from the rest...American Brad Guzan of Aston Villa. With 9 clean sheets, 4 Man of the Match awards, and a stellar 0.79 GAA (2nd in TFSerie A), Guzan gets the nod for Best XI goalkeeper.

Honorable Mention: M. ter Stegen (B. M'Gladbach), V. Enyeama (Lille OSC), M. Agazzi (Cagliari), J. Cesar (QPR), M. Vorm (Swansea City)

In defense, Mauricio was the obvious choice to anchor the Best XI backline. The hulking Brazilian led Sporting CP to a 0.94 GAA (2nd in TFSerie B) and 6 clean sheets, adding 3 MotM awards and 3 goals for good measure. At his side is Villa outside back Matthew Lowton. His 3 MotM awards helped Villa to a 3rd place finish in TFSerie A. And completing the backline, Dmytro Chygrynski. In a shortened TFSerie C season, the Ukranian led Shakhtar to a 2nd-place finish, leading his team to 4 clean sheets and 2 MotM awards.

Honorable Mention: M. Basa (Lille OSC), R. Vlaar (Aston Villa)

The midfield always proves to be the toughest to pick, and this season was no different. No one player stood out among the rest, but Serbian midfielder Zoran Tosic was an easy choice. The former Manchester United player led CSKA Moscow to their 3rd TFSerie title with 3 goals, 7 assists, and 4 MotM awards. Alongside him was Keisuke Honda, who was no slouch himself, boosting CSKA with 4 goals, 6 assists, and 3 MotM awards.

Joining the 2 Moscow representatives on the Best XI squad is Rafael van der Vaart, earning a long-overdue nomination. This season wasn't his best, but 2 goals, 5 assists, and 4 MotM awards for 4th-place TFSerie A team Hamburger SV is not bad. Iker Muniain might not even be the best player on his own team (see A. Aduriz), but the midfielder was a goal-scoring machine, leading all midfielders with 8 goals, adding 2 assists and 2 MotM awards for the TFSerie B winners. And rounding out the midfield is Ronaldinho. His 2nd All-TFS Best XI selection, proving the old man still has some flair left in those crooked teeth.

Honorable Mention: R. Nainggolan (Cagliari), I. Ilicevic (Hamburger SV), D. Capel (Sporting CP)

There were plenty of options at forward this season, despite an overall downturn in scoring. But 2 names stood out from the rest in Victor Ibarbo and Seydou Doumbia. Both players tied for the league-lead in goals scored with 14, while Ibarbo added 10 assists and 3 MotM awards to his case. Doumbia was a little less impactful, with 3 assists and 2 MotM awards, but the now-2-time Best XI selection is always a threat to score.

Honorable Mention: C. Benteke (Aston Villa), M. Sau (Cagliari), E. Johnson (Seattle), Jo (Atl. Mineiro), C. Bacca (Sevilla), A. Aduriz (Bilbao)

    Brad Guzan (Aston Villa)
