SEASON 11 FIFA 14
A new Season is upon us and Serie A looks to be an exciting race to the finish. Manager CxMacx10 decision to take a sabbatical this Season has left the field with no clear cut favorites except one. The Newly promoted Managers boast a combined 35-13-12 winning record in Serie B to earn promotion and the Pre Season Favorite has not lifted the Chapionship in 2 Seasons- will the new boys of Serie A prove that this Season with the new format- there are no free points?
Udinese started last Season in Serie B late, but The Italians proved to be a Winner running the Table and dispatching most of Serie B opponents with ease- winning with a balanced attack- offensively, ST (85) Di Natale proved unstoppable as he tallied 15 goals & 12 assists. Defensively, Udinese allowed almost 2 goals per match which may prove deadly if that trend continue in Serie A. The Italian Defense will be anchored by CB (80) Danilo and will need to remain discipline, especially of the Manager implements his traditional 3-1-4-2. Manager bbrech0610 is new to Serie A- but he helms one of the most statistically impressive line ups in TFS. Udinese sports 4 players 80 or above and a 6'4" Serbian keeper in GK 77 Brkic - The Italians are poised to make an impression in Season 11 in Serie A.
Manager Broncos218 fell a few points short of a stellar run in Serie A play last Season- falling 8 points from the Champions- but then he sported a star studded Anzhi squad- which has fallen into hard times, forcing the loyal Manager to ply his trade with another squad- this time his 3rd German squad in 11 Seasons- he hopes to replicate his successes with those previous Teams winning a Championship with both - ( Hamburg & Werder Bremen). Last Season Manager Broncos218 allowed .98 goals per match, smothering opponents with Defense- offensively averaging 1.33 goals last Season, meant the Defense had to be Stellar or else- this time, Borrusia Mongladbach will be anchored by one of the leagues best Keepers in GK (80) Ter Stegen and experienced middle fielders in LM (78) Arango and RM (77) P.Hermann will add some stability in the attack. ST (79) M.Kruse will look to be the point of attack for the Germans- but the Squads overall lack of speed may prove an issue during the long Season.
Swansea City barely avoided Relegation last Season in Serie A- a surprise with the line up the Welsh squad can put on the field- New additions ST (80) Bony & RCM (74) Shelvey will look to make amend for a .71 goal per average last Season- Spanish star CAM (80) Michu will get more support on the Offense- as his 5 goals last Season topped the squad. Defensively GK (81) Vorm will be tasked to defend the Net this Season- the Defense were 4th in goals allowed with a 1.41 GAA- in a usually stingy Serie A table- Swansea may find it difficult to stay away from the Danger Zone as the match play for Season 11 will not benefit this squads overall advantage- SPEED. Manager dooz will need to find creative ways to score with his talented front men if he is to remain influential in the upcoming campaign.
Manager HokieNYC returns to Serie A after a 1 year absence as he helms the Russian outfit Dynamo Moscow in Season 11. Manager HokieNYC found some success in Serie B with Cagliari Calcio - but a lack of transfer movement made the Manager move to Russia with an ambitious squad in Dynamo. Defensively, Manager HokieNYC led Serie B last season with a 1.00 GAA - his Defense putting up a league high 9 Clean sheets in 20 matches- offensively his squad was 2nd in goals per match- many would consider that a success- but with his new squad - arguably he has improved the quality in key positions for the more difficult Serie A campaign. German 6'3" ST (78) K.Kuranyi will be an imposing target for RM (80) Dzsudzsak. Defensively the Defense is solid with CDM (80) Denisov looking to play support on both ends of the field. Manager HokieNYC will look to be influential in the Championship Race-
Manager IJGator was relegated last Season- but with the departure of one of the key Serie players- he has been given a second life in Serie A. He returns for the 11th Season with a never before seen squad in TFS- Malaga CF. One of the purely offensive Managers in Serie A history- it would be unfair to judge his resume from last Season- as he sported a squad way below the competition. He is very experienced in Serie A play and with the added factor of a new and more statistically powerful squad- look for this Offensive Manager to surprise Teams this campaign. Malaga FC has had a major windfall in talent this year- but can still put an impressive starting 11- GK (79) Cabellero will anchor the Defense- while RB (79) Duarte will lend support- however the meat of the Defense is suspect- which could lead to goals from crosses. Offensively, 6'3" ST (76) Santa Cruz may prove a difficult match up in the air for most Defenses as well. Look for Manager IJGator to fight for a Middle of the Table comfortability and may steal a few critical points to influence the Championship.
Manager JuanchoCT14 returns to Serie A after succesfully staying afloat last Season with Sunderland- this time around he helms Hamburg SV and sports wat is arguably the best GK in Serie A- GK (83) R.Adler will prove a difficult keeper to beat most matches - but the German is capable of winning matches on his own when in form. CAM (83) van der Vaart is a deadly talent that can control the Offense. This two players alone would prove a headache for any Manager- the supporting cast has been improved upon from last Season and Manager JuanchoCT14 will have the firepower to improve upon his finish in Season 10. Hamburger SV will be a hard squad to beat and with an experience Manager can be down right deadly - look for the Germans to improve on Manager juanchoCT14's finish from Season 10 as they finish near the top of the Middle.
SEASON PREVIEW II:
Manager LasVegasFC will helm Italian squad Atalanta in Season 11 of Serie A. The Italian outfit was a surprise selection for many pundits as the Manager had the pick of the litter to Start his campaign. Offensively, the Italians sport a dangerous strike force in ST (79) Denis and LM (79) Bonaventura. The Defense will be anchored by Italian GK (79) Consigli- a task that may prove heavy as the Defense is a major achilles heel for the Italians- a backline that will not have any major influences as most fall between 74-76 statistically. Not much is known of the Atalanta except that their Manager saw something in them to prove worthy of Serie A competition. Manager LasVegas counter attacking approach may be why he chose Atalanta- with its impressive front line but if Teams can be patient and get past his high line Defense- GK Consigli may have to put out a MOTM performance all Season long.
Manager MiaFLSurf benefits from the Manager drop outs- as he found himself and the Villans on the outside looking in last Season in Serie B- but he returns after being relegated in his inaugural Serie A season- with Aston Villa. Statistically the Villans scored as much as they allowed - finding themselves in the middle of both categories- Manager MiaFLSurf will play a high defensive line and look to attack you defensively to start his counter- the loss of ST (78) D.Bent will be a major hurdle as he accounted for 23 of the 37 goals Aston Villa scored last Season- Belgian International ST (81) Benteke will need to assert his dominance if the Villans are to find success in Serie A- as his supporting cast may be out of its depth with the talent pool. If Aston Villa can find success starting their counters high and early- watch the Villans take some surprising scalps- and maintain middle of the table respectability. If Serie A can find a way to test that suspect Defensive line- GK (79) Guzan will find himself pick the ball from his net more often than not ..and a return to Serie B.
There is an air of inevitability in the French squad this Season as Manager RedAl925 has been less than upbeat at his squad's prospect for the upcoming campaign- is this a ploy from the experience and wily Manager or was last Season's barely survival finish has the long term Manager understanding the depth of his challenges for Season 11. The talent at Lille has been raided and CDM (81) Mavuba remains the lone talent from a once powerful outfit- The defense is suspect- with CB (77) Basa the lone standout- ST (78) Kalou's speed has been muted and the French side does not sport a strong third to lean on- neither the back, middle or front line can win games outright- it will need to be a team effort if relegation is not in the cards this Season- Manager RedAl925 understands the mountain in front of him- but if there was ever a Manager capable of coaxing the best from a squad- the versatile Maanger RedAl925 would be the man for it- look for Lille to put up a fight all year long- and if results fall positive- a 12th season in Serie A- if other squads over power the French side- Relegation may be in the cards-
What do you get when you combine the most statistically advanced squad in Serie A with one of the winningest Managers in TFS history? Add to that the absence of Manager CxMAcx10? You get CSKA Moscow and Manager Shiftee licking his chops as the big bad wolf eyeing the flock of sheep in his way. CSKA Moscow boasts the most balanced squad in TFS - Russian International GK (81) Akinfeev will anchor a back line that sports two CBs rated 77 a piece- scoring will be difficult against this Defense. The Middle is littered with world class players in LM (79) Dzagoev, CAM (81) Honda and CDM (78) Elm- the frontline will sport ST (80) Doumbia. Will the Russian cruuse through the Season- or will Teams bog down the Russian with a slew of Draws to open up the race for another would be contender? THe Championship is CSKA Moscow's to lose and everyone in Serie A knows it.
West Ham United
The last of the newly promoted sides- Manager WingedHelmet sports a revamped West Ham United into Serie A. Question is will old stalwart GK (73) Jaaskelainen give way to youthful Spanish keeper GK (77) Adrian and will Manager WingedHelmet sports his stable of Strikers effectively to win matches- he has 3 World Class players to choose from ST (77) A.Carrol looks to be a tempting target or ST (78) Petric can add some versatility to the attack- and the man of the moment ST (74) Maiga gives power. All worthy targets for CAM (77) Cole. Defensively, the Team is statistically weak- but still managed to share Defensive honors with Cagliari in Serie B with a 1.00 GAA- will that defensive prowess rise to the occasion or will West Ham be the newest victim of powerful Defenses in the lower Series finding life in Serie A humbling?
As the saying goes..."one man's trash is another man's..." and boy what a Treasure- Cagliari lost their Manager from Season pass only to gain a more experience Manager in Zikry- the Italians are FAST and will recover quickly from mistakes- the backline is anchored by CB (79) Astori and a swarming Defense that will pester opposing teams with their speed. GK (77) Agazzi has improved upon his last Season performance and will look to do the same this campaign. Offensively, the Italians will rely on their speed to break down the Defense- CM (80) Naingollan will be the focal point but a stable of Strikers in ST (77) V.Ibarbo, ST (75) M.Pinilla and ST (77) Sau will be versatile targets for CAM (77) Cossu on the attack- look for Manager Zikry to fight for the Championship with this Italian squad- it is an impressive Strike force that will Test any Defense in the League.
WEEK 1 MATCHDAY 1-3
The Campaign for Serie A begins with Cagliari storming out with an impressive 9 points out of a possible 9- Winning all three matches by 1 goal differences. An opening Match against newly promoted West Ham United 2-1 signaled the intent of the Italians as they cruise to a comfortable victory with the Hammers scoring a goal in the 70th minute to keep the match fairly interesting but the Italians close out the English to record their first win. A second match against Swansea City was more offensively minded, but again the Italians found a way to keep the opposition at bay- a 90th goal from Swansea City's Michu made the scoreline more respectable in the end. Malaga became the third squad to fall to the hot Italians- in a tightly contested affair in which V.Ibarbo's lone goal was the difference as Agazzi's MOTM performance and clean sheet was enough to end Cagliari's campaign on a positive note. The Italians look to live up to their Pre Season favorite reputation- as they claim all 9 points in the opening week.
M.Sau scores against West Ham United on the break
M.Sau adds to his early Season tally against Swansea City
CSKA Moscow, another Pre Season favorite look to not be out done by Cagliairi as they ruthlessly take care of business in their beginning fixtures- a 3-0 thrashing of Lille was dispatched with ease as the French side were unable to challenge the Defense often- getting only 1 shot on target for the Match. The Russian's second match saw them fall behind early against Borrusia Mongladbach but a 2nd half resurgence from the Russian beginning with a 45th minute goal to end the half was enough to push the Russians through 2-1.
The German's do not start well and manage a draw in a lifeless match against newly promoted side Udinese - the match generated only 1 shot on target as both squads look to still be trying to figure out their systems. After which Manager Bronco called the match a "snoozer..." . The Draw and Loss means that a key Match against another newly promoted side in Aston Villa looms- with results pinning the Germans in the bottom or mid table to start their campaign.
Swansea City recovers well from their first loss at the expense of spanish side Malaga as they win Away 1-0. The loss for Malaga has the Spanish squad victims of 1 goal losses- something Manager IJGator can take very little solace in-
Lille manage a Draw in their opener in a shoot out of a match- while the scoreline flatters it needed some late game heroics from the French side as Udinese failed to protect a 2 goal lead with 20 minutes left in the match. The Draw would be Lille's only point of the week as losses to CSKA Moscow and Atalanta has the French side stumbling early.
Atalanta has impressed in their first 3 matches- earning 5 points out of a possible 9- with a key win against Lille and 2 draw against newboys Udinese and Aston Villa the Italians have earned hard fought points to start their campaign. The Italians have shown some grit in the opening week as they buckle down to protect their points in three closely contested Matches.
Dynamo Moscow in a lackluster opener held on for a 0-0 draw against West Ham United as the match showed the Russian's still in pre season form - The Draw for West Ham United means only 1 point after 2 matches and a clash with the slow starting Hamburg SV looms for a key make up match in the horizon.
Udinese fail to win any of their opening matches but salvages 3 draws to garner 3 valuable points - giving them the most points earned from the 4 promoted sides.
The Campaign is off- and the newly promoted sides look to be ready for the Serie A fixtures as they go - Udinese earned draws their first week and West Ham, Aston Villa and Dynamo Moscow have not been sacrificial lambs this opening week. While the race for the Championship looks like a done deal with a 2 horse race early on- the positioning for 3rd to 10th might be the more interesting race of Season 11.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ST Marco Sau . Cagliari . (3 goals . 3 assists - 3 matches)
ST Seydou Doumbia . CSKA Moscow . (4 goals - 2 matches)
WEEK 2 MATCHDAY 4-6
Second week of Season 11 was a quiet one as many squads were unable to complete their matches.
West Ham United came out strong with two Wins against two experienced Managers to capture 6 valuable points. A 2-1 victory against Malaga was convincing as the Spanish side made the score line flattering with a late goal and Lille were to mount any threat as they were only able to muster 1 shot on target as once again the newsboy West Ham Squad prove they are no Rookies to competition.
Malaga's woes continue as they only must a Draw against Borrussia Mongladbach to earn only 1 point from the 0-0 fixture. Dynamo Moscow in their only match of the week played compounded the Spanish side's poor start as they hand Malaga a 3-1 loss - the poor results has Malaga earning 1 out of a possible 9 points and the dubious honor of anchoring the Serie A Table in last place.
Lille were unable to find any offense as they also finish the week with only 1 point earned out of a possible 9 as another a newly Aston Villa squad defeat the French side 2-0- offensively the French have been in very poor form- only mustering 4 shots on target in the past 3 matches. The Team is desperate to find a dominant scorer as they join Malaga in the bottom of the Table.
Borrussia Mongladbach sit in a similar position as zero goal in 2 matches played has the Germans exasperated. Two goals in 5 matches has Borrussia Mongladbach looking for a scorer as the new system seems to have the Germans in a very bad situation.
It seems that Rookie Managers are fairing well this Season as Aston Villa earn 4 points with a draw against another newly promoted Manager in a Udinese 0-0 draw . The Win against Lille may have signaled a new guard in Serie A as the newly promoted sides have proven to be a handful in all their fixtures. Udinese proved a handful for powerful CSKA Moscow as they were stymied by the Italian Defense- who were laid sieged by the Russian but only allowed only 1 past the keeper, it was enough for Di Natale to steal a point as the wily striker struck in the 44th minute for the final goal of the match and the spoils shared.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ST. M. Petric . West Ham United . ( 3 goals )
WEEK 3 MATCHDAY 7-8
In a short week Cagliari come out on Top! Winning both fixtures- A Win Away against Borrussia Mongladbach 2-0 and a Home victory 1-0 to Aston Villa has proven that no rust has accumulated from the Italians week long lay off. The Italians are sitting a top Serie A with 6 straight wins out of 8 possible matches- but while the Team is upbeat with their streak- it has been noted that 4 0f the 6 matches have been 1 goal affairs and it might only be a matter of time before opponents are sitting on the positive side of a 1-0 result.
Dynamo Moscow found some success this Week as well as they found a way to squeeze out 1-0 victories against Borrussia Mongladbach and Udinese. The Russians are a surprising 3rd in the Table with a defensively display that matches their Top of the Table predecessor Cagliari. Both Teams are allowing .50 goals per match.
With losses to Cagliari and Dynamo - Borrusia Mongladbach has fallen into the Danger Zone early in the campaign- still looking for their first Victory the Germans can count themselves unlucky as the squad can't seem to find the goals needed to win. The Defense has been impressive, responsible for 3 points in 3 0-0 draws- but if the Germans cannot find a legitimate goal scoring threat, Borrussia may well find themselves in a very uncomfortable race near the end of the Season.
Aston Villa salvages 3 points as they win a critical match up against Hamburger 1-0. The English squad played put up a Defensive performance with GK Guzan leading the charred as he kept the Germans at bay- a lone strike from Belgian Benteke was the only goal and it was enough to seal 3 points for the Villans.
West Ham United win out against Swansea City 1-0 and drew against fellow promoted Udinese 1-1 to get 4 points amd move into 4th in Serie A. The Hammers shut down Swansea City and clawed their way into a draw against Udinese to remain very much in the hunt for a Championship.
Malaga had an impressive week despite a 1-0 loss to CSKA Moscow- A win against fellow Bottom dweller Lille was critical in separating the Spanish side in the 1-0 final- But more impressive might have been the 1-0 loss to CSKA as Malaga were able to hold the Seria A powerhouse to lone goal- they held possession and Shot on goal and only an impressive Clean sheet performance from CSKA GK Akinfeev kept the score line from falling Malaga's way.
CSKA Moscow's hot start was halted by an impressive 1-0 performance from winning side Atalanta- the Italian squad impressive Win was not enough to carry momentum as they fall 2-0 to Hamburg in what could have been a Season changing result- the Italians sit 2-2-2 but have shown they are no average squad with a very impressive scalp already in their pocket.
Hamburger rebounds from their poor showing against Aston Villa in defeating Atalanta and the Germans are now in the hunt for their first Championship midway into the campaign-
Lille has been unable to prove their mettle this week but the squad has shown some teeth as success in Coppa and sits 2nd in Group play- but the French side has yet to find a critical 1st Win in Serie A play- Lille will look to find success against Swansea City as a poor show against Malaga has the squad scrambling as they sit bottom of the Table- The Win will come soon enough- question is which scalp will be taken?
