Monchengladbach Come Up Big Following Int'l Break
With some time off as the international window allowed for a break, Borussia Monchengladbach came out looking like a whole new team. "We had some great energy from the get-go," commented Coach Bronc. "We had fantastic pace and flow in our game, and that showed with 2 goals in the first 26 minutes." Max Kruse opened the scoring for Monchenglabach in the 6th minute, and the captain Martin Stranzl made it 2-0 with a goal from a corner kick. Monchengladbach solidified their mark with a third goal in the 59th minute, as Max Kruse hit a brilliant strike to earn a brace for himself on the day. West Ham's Andy Carroll scored in extra time of the second half off of a splendid cross in from Matt Jarvis, but it was too little too late for the English club. West Ham's loss will surely dampen their Serie A title hopes, but the 3 points for Monchengladbach is just what the German club needs to stay afloat and out of the relegation race.

West Ham opened the scoring from close range. Despite West Ham having the better of it in the 1st half, Bony equalized from a corner just before half-time. The second half was all Swansea, as West Ham mustered only a single shot. Pablo Hernandez scored the winner from the edge of the 6 yard box after beating his defender 1-on-1. The 3 points for Swansea almost assuredly keeps Swansea in the top flight for another campaign. ​
