In a game that featured two preseason favourites for promotion, Boca Jrs. was able to come out with a convincing win. Emanuel Gigliotti would open things up in the 7th minute after his header, from a lovely cross from Pablo Ledesma, found the back of the net. Both Bilbao and Boca pressed on for the next goal, as the next one would decide the game. A goal for Bilbao would've swung the momentum their way. They were close, after a cross found Susaeta in the back post, he proceeded in heading it just above the cross bar. That was Bilbao's chance to score and tie. They never got close again. Boca tried to get the 2nd, a great run by Pablo Ledesma saw him have an opening, only to shoot the ball wide. 2nd half came and the same 11 came out for both teams. Boca would go on the attack once more. Juan Roman Riquelme would play the ball into Ledesma who would then pass it up to the middle to Gigliotti for the finish and the 2-0. Ribair Rodriguez would seal the win with a goal from outside the box. Boca would keep the clean sheet.

you'll get the hand of it, thought for sure that Susaeta header was going in. Luck is key at times.

Is it better to be lucky or good? How about both. QPR went into La Bombonera and stole a point. Literally. Boca would begin the game attack after attack, almost took the lead before 20 minutes had been played but Insua's shot hit the crossbar. Boca would keep attacking, their defense held their own as well. Keeping QPR without the shot after one half. 2nd half was much of the same, with a more open type of game. Boca would finally take the lead in the 64th minute after a Riquelme shot was saved and landed right in the path of Gigliotti, for his 3rd goal of the year. QPR would attempt to come back, however they were denied time after time. Until the 79th minute when a long ball played up top and received by C. Austin led to their goal. He one timed it to J. Barton who would kick it from far out and beat the goalie. Barton, being himself, celebrated as if they had won some sort of silverware. It's fair to say that the Xeneize will be marking that date that they travel to Loftus road.

Also didn't have time to get the vids, but Barton's goal was pretty sick. I could've gave an assist to the goalie though :)

I thought Insua would get the motm award since you were on my right side 90% of your attacks. I guess Simpson did a good job there :) . Barton's goal was surprising and sick. Good luck rest of the way brother.

    MOTM - Christian Gentner (9.0)
Stuttgart - Longtime rivals and long-distance drinking buddies Frenchie1916 and Go Devils met once more on the field of battle in the season opener of the season, looking to kick off a campaign that is likely to see both of these managers clawing for every point in an attempt to stay clear of the relegation zone. true to form, the first half was a largely probing, exploratory affair, with many turnovers in the midfield and the teams looking wobbly, It looked like each manager would go into the changing rooms at the half with nothing to show for the first 45 until an improbable sequence of events conspired against the hometown Germans.

From an inexplicable distance of about 30 yards, Marseille CAM Mathieu Valbuena fired a high, curling shot toward the German net. While it looked like Ulreich had plenty of time to track the ball, he instead dove at the last second, missing the shot entirely. The ball caromed off the post and fell to a waiting Jordan Ayew, who was able to slot home the rebound.

"I don't know what Sven was thinking of out there," Frenchie said. "I thought he should have followed that ball the whole way and effortlessly caught it or steered it aside. But he took one step, waited and then dove at the very last instant, looking buffoonish in the process. It was like he had watched videos of Rene Higuita the night before and wanted to do something flashy. But he must remember: We. Are. German. We don't do flash."

Frenchie obviously gave his team the hairdryer treatment at the half, because they came out a whole new squad. The first half saw the Germans with only one chance at goal. The second, they took control of the match. While their shooting was a bit erratic, the possession and dangerous opportunities they created for themselves do possibly bode well for the future. Stuttgart was able to draw level with their French rivals just 15 minutes into the half when CDM Christian Gentner sent a perfect through ball to Martin Harnik, tearing down the right hand side. New signing Mohammed Abdelouae put on an inch-perfect dummy to keep his defender from intercepting the ball and allowing Harnik the space to run on. The Austrian then fired hard and high to Steve Mandanda's right, and the game was knotted.

Stuttgart didn't let up from there, and very nearly had the game winner when ST Vedad Ibisevic blasted a shot from the edge of the area at the 79th minute, but Mandanda made the save of the game with a dive to his right, preserving the point and sending both sides home with but a single point.

The two old foes from Serie C faced off in Serie B. YNWA96 had finished 2nd in Serie C, 4 points behind the champion guayo10. In their only 2 meetings to date, in official competitions, they had played to two draws. A 0-0 affair in the Mini Estadi and a 1-1 in St. Mary's. Coming into the match guayo10 had gone 1-0-1 in his first two matches. Claiming 4 out of the 6 possible pts. While YNWA96 had yet to play a match.

The game began with Boca controlling the ball. In the 6th minute Juan Sanchez Miño made a lovely run, evading 6 of the Hannover defenders, his shot though went well wide of the 2nd post. For the rest of the half Boca would control possession, finishing the first half with a 58%-42% edge. The first goal of the match came in the 41st minute, Boca had been trying to work the middle all throughout the match, until Insua tried to get a cross in that was blocked. The corner kicked that followed was headed in by G. Burdisso.

The 2nd half was far more open, Hannover couldn't come close to goal. They did register their first shot of the game early in the 2nd. Sadly that was the last shot that they would get on the day. Boca Juniors shut them down. An Emanuel Gigliotti goal, 4th so far, sealed the win for the Xeineze. A lovely shot from outside the box.

WP YNWA96, I finally got a win against you. Good luck in your other matches!!!
