On the last day of the season Cagliari and Lyon met up to play their postponed game in the South of Italy. In a contest that was even between the two sides, it was Marco Sau who would provide the difference at the stroke of halftime. Taking the ball down the left wing Sau would sprint past the defender before cutting inside, leaving the Lyon CB flat-footed, before rifling it at the far side of the goal leaving the keeper with no chance. Both teams would have sporadic chances here and there in the second half but Sau's goal stood as the lone one of the game as Cagliari collect all 3 points.
