leaving work now, I'll be on as soon as I get home, 6 should still be fine. Need to be done by 6:45 for dinner plans so as soon as we can kick off would be best

A great match between Southampton and PSV that had to end in the lottery of the shootout. Southampton got off to a great start as Adam Lallana fired a low shot on goal that was saved, but right to the feet of Jay Rodriguez to give Southampton the lead. That lead would hold for almost the entire game, but a great managerial decision in the 84th minute, PSV subbed in Jurgen Locadia on a corner opportunity, and his first touch of the game was a header for a goal. With that, the game would head to extra time where Southampton got on top again as Rodriguez found himself all alone on the breakaway and calmly finished in the corner. But Locadia came up big again on another corner to once again tie the game for PSV and send it into penalties. Artur Boruc came up big making two stops in the shootout, and it was just enough to see Southampton through.

Great game RedAL925 - was a lot of fun and definitely could have gone either way.

    MOTM: CSKA Doumbia

    Clean Sheet CSKA Akinfeev

This game got off to a slow start with the 2 teams feeling each other out and quite a few misplaced passes due to the weather conditions. Southampton had the first quality chance of the game in the 27th minute when Gaston headed a corner kick inches wide. A few minutes later, Doumbia almost gave his team the lead but his shot was stopped with a diving save by the Southampton keeper. Ramirez almost scored a beauty when his attempted bicycle kick went wide. CSKA would break the deadlock in injury time of the 1st half when Doumbia anticipated Shaw's move as he moved the ball into CSKA territory, and darted for the quick counter hoping the ref wouldn't blow the whistle. Doumbia spotted Tosic who darted past the defender and played the ball into the box where Tosic finished it off with a volley. Southampton were able to work their way into CSKA's third for the first 9 minutes of the 2nd half but CSKA's defense stood tall. In the 54th minute, Doumbia put his team up by 2 on a lucky bounce. Tosic's cross was played into the box where Vitinho's off target header pass got by the keeper trickling the line and Doumbia's tap in was almost blocked by the hustling defender.. but instead the tap in took a deflection off the defender's shin and in. CSKA would change their focus to defending and were able to play well throughout the remainder of the game to hold on for the Supercoppa victory to finish off the treble.

GG Friz looking forward to a Russian rivalry next season!

good game shiftee - couldn't get the passes on target in the offensive third, and when i got there i couldn't get the shots on target. well deserved treble i'd say. hopefully i'll be able to do a bit better next season
