After an extended period of two weeks of rest, Cruz Azul opened up strong, garnering 6 shots on 4 corners in the opening 20 minutes. The remainder of the game was dominated by the possession of Swansea until Gimenez was able to break through with a goal in the 76th minute. After holding off until the last seconds, Cruz Azul was able to capture 3 points on the road.

A proverbial tale of two halves, where Stuttgart had only one shot, but zero on target in the first half, switched to an attacking 4-3-3 formation and proceeded to rattle the woodwork, get breakaways and 2-on-1s, yet still not find the back of the net. Swansea controlled the midfield and very nearly put Stuttgart to the sword int he first half. But it was another goalless draw in a long series of goalless draws between these two longtime friends and rivals. Well played, Go Devils .

In a tight battle between two of the top 3 teams in the league, Cruz Azul was able to get a win on the road with a 48th minute goal by Marco Fabian. Jose corona came up big, with a huge save on an open goal in the 8th minute and by saving a penalty late in the second half. Defense came up big, holding of Sevilla's relentless late attacks.
