The 14th Season of TFSerie kicked off with a narrative-filled 1-1 draw between Sporting CP and Lille OSC in Lisbon. Neither team showed well in preseason, but both came to play this afternoon. It was the home side getting on the board first as I. Slimani was able to ghost past M. Basa in defense and blast a right-footed shot into the top corner. Sporting never looked comfortable with the lead, however, as Lille looked dangerous as the match wore on. In the 2nd half, the visitors would have their equalizer. D. Origi, who was dangerous all match long, made a brilliant turn on the ball at the top of the box and made no mistake about his shot.

With the match level, Lille pressed hard for a winner. A long goal kick put into space found the feet of Origi. His run into the box halted by a shirt pull by Mauricio, resulting in a 90' penalty. Origi stood over the ball ready to take the shot he earned, but second-half substitute N. Roux decided he wanted the spotlight, for scoring a game-winning goal against his former manager was something hard to pass up. The shot was well hit, but Rui Patricio, who had been excellent all match, got his fingertips to the ball and pushed it onto the crossbar. With virtually no time left on the clock, the resulting corner was easily dealt with, points shared.

    Match Highlights:

    D. Origi Goal (61'):

    Patricio Save (90'):

What a game. Awful penalty shout by the referee. Ball didn't lie on the save. Well played boys.

Negative. Press share before the game to broadcast. At the end of the game, press share again and stop the broadcast. Then you go online to twitch.com and find the broadcast, you can create highlights from there. It's all in Friz's FAQ

Lille played its home opener following a tough draw to open the season at Sporting Lisbon. The trend of tough draws would continue. A shocking shaky backline allowed a 2 goal lead to disappear in just 5 minutes in the second. Only to then regain the lead to give it back once more. The result is a 3-3 draw and 2 points through two games.

The scoring opened when Divock Origi was able to fine space and walk in on goal, slotting it to the back post in the 9th minute. The score stayed that way until the 66th minute when Origi would double the lead. Things appeared to be in hand, however, Dinamo responded brilliantly. Just 2 minutes after Origi's goal, Kuranyi answered with a brilliant header on a swinging cross. The visitors found themself level just 3 minutes later. The Lille player protested for an offside call but none was given as Valbuena squirted in behind and was able to finish past Enyeama. The home side had a response of their own as Idirssa Gueye found the net in the 76th minute. The home side again couldnt put Dinamo away. Kuranyi was too much and once again won an air ball and headed it into the net. Lille had a chance just before the last whistle to take all three but Origi slotted his shot just wide of the post.

    • Lokomotiv started off its campaign with a quick goal from Maicon sent thru by Bousouffa in on goal. It seemed like the home team could break away early with plenty of chances but misses were a common theme. Roddalega was very dangerous floating around the home teams box but he couldn't muster many chances on goal.
    • The Fulham keeper held his own all night getting his hands on plenty of Lokomotiv's shots and directing them or parrying them away from goal. Both sides look to shake off their rust in the coming matches since they both look like longshots to finish near the the top of tough Serie A.

Hamburg Loses Early Lead, But Muller Saves The Point
Hamburg opened the new season under Coach Bronc with a home match against Villarreal alongside today's many other matches during TFSerie's opening kickoff. Hamburg jumped out to a strong start as the Dutch captain Rafael van der Vaart put the home team up 1-0 in the 10th minute. However, it didn't take long for Villarreal to spoil the festivities, as the fullback Costa fired in an amazing shot to level the score at 1-1. Villarreal then took the lead in the 64th minute as Hamburg failed to get the ball away on a Villarreal cross, but new signing Nicolai Muller saved Hamburg with a 78th curler into the net. "We got off to a great start, so it was disappointing to fall behind after that," said Coach Bronc, "But Villarreal simply outplayed us for the majority of the match and quite frankly, we were fortunate to earn the draw. We looked lackluster on both sides of the ball, something that can't continue in future matches." Hamburg has matches against Hoffenheim and CSKA Moscow remaining for this week.

    Good game CxMacx10 adding highlights:

    Lille 3 - 3 Dinamo Moscow

Lille's home opener against Dinamo Moscow got off to a quick start as Origi opened the scoring inside 10 minutes. Dinamo experienced a disappointing first half as they were unable to string simple passes together, and considered themselves lucky to only be down one going into the half, but Origi doubled the lead about 20 minutes into the second half. Dinamo needed an immediate response and got one as Kuranyi got loose in the box to head home a cross from Yuri Zhirkov, and then just three minutes later played Valbuena through who finished expertly to tie the game up. Lille wasn't done though as they took the lead again as Gueye hit a shot from range that snuck by the Dinamo keeper, but Kuranyi was Dinamo's hero once again as he notched his second goal and stole a point for the visitors.

We came in expecting a defensive battle, thinking one or two goals may take all three points. We never thought we'd need three to just keep it tied, and I'm sure Lille felt the same way. But fortunately the offense picked us up after going behind, and full credit to Kuranyi who proved to be our difference maker.

The shots on goal and saves stat is broken. Saves seems to take into account any time the keeper touches the ball (not sure how exact, possibly collecting crosses?) and no clue what shots on goal is doing. in my cup game, a 2-2 draw, the game said west brom only had 1 shot on goal despite scoring twice

Clean Sheet: Gabulov - 5 Saves
    MOTM: Mathieu Valbuena

Dinamo Moscow's Serie A home opener left the home fans heading home happy with a 1-0 win over Fulham. The final ball wasn't always there for the hosts, as a number of passes strayed just too far for attackers, but Kokorin volleyed home the decisive goal in the 38th minute after Dzudzsak sent a ball that Valbuena was able to flick behind him for a one time finish for Kokorin. The defense stayed strong all game long, making some vital tackles to prevent goal scoring opportunities for Fulham, and when the ball did get through Gabulov was up to the task to preserve the shutout.

Our defense did what they had to do today when the attack was struggling. Sometimes you score a lot and lose, and sometimes you score once and win. Today was the latter, but we'll take that over the former every single time.

Great game IJGator , looking forward to the rematch

Hoffenheim leaves it late as RSchwep defeats bogey team Broncos218 in Sinsheim debut
It was a perfect opening for RSchwep at 1899 Hoffenheim as the returning manager won his season debut against an old foe in Broncos218. It started rather ominously for the home side, as despite early possession dominance, an early own goal by defender David Abraham gave HSV the lead. The men from Sinsheim kept their heads up and focused on making the most out of positive possession, and that's precisely what they did in a late comeback effort.

"It wasn't easy for us out there, particularly against a manager like Broncos218 that everyone around this League knows has my number," said RSchwep after the match. "But we had the run of play in our favor. It was just a matter of generating chances."

Hoffenheim leveled on a thundering run by Adam Szalai, who took the ball down the left side of the pitch, cut to the middle, and equalized in the 67th minute. With the game flow largely remaining the same, it was star Roberto Firmino who gave TSG the win in the 90th, taking a layoff and curling around Rene Adler in the 90th to win it.

"Truthfully, I would have been happy with a draw," said RSchwep. "We backed off our attack a bit after the equalizer so as to not get caught in behind again. But Roberto brings pure class to the pitch and he's capable of a thrilling play at anytime. I'm delighted to bring three points to our fans on the opener."

CSKA Moscow kick off new season with win over Hoffenheim
It was a rainy day for CSKA's first game of the new season as they hosted Hoffenheim. CSKA's first and 2nd chances of the game came back to back when Eremenko took a great shot that was met by an even greater save, the rebound found it's way to Musa but the Hoffenheim keeper was able to recover quick enough to make the 2nd save. Nearing the 1st half, Hoffenheim sent a ball into the box but CSKA CB Berezutskiy was called for the foul, earning Hoff the PK. Cool as a cucumber, Firmino sent the GK Akinfeev the wrong way and gave his team the 1-0 lead. CSKA would respond 3 minutes later when Tosic found Eremenko on a perfectly timed run and beat the keeper on the short side to make it level heading into the 2nd half.

In the 2nd half, Hoffenheim had good movement with the ball and at 54' Volland took a left footed shot from just outside the middle of the box but was met by a diving Akinfeev.who made the 1 handed save. Tosic would then knock the ball back to Wernbloom who found Doumbia splitting between 2 defenders and slotted the ball past the rushing keeper to give his team the 2-1 lead. Tosic almost increased the lead at 62' when he fired an ambitious shot from well outside the box, but it missed by about 2m. It looked like Hoffenheim were going to have a good opportunity as Szalai got by Fernandes out wide, forcing Fernandes to take a foul, and a yellow card. Hoffenheim would get one more shot on target but Akinfeev made the save without giving up a rebound to end the game.

GG rschwep and GL the rest of the way. Did you happen to stream/save highlights? I was streaming but forgot to enable the archive option via twitch (i thought it was enabled by default tbh..).

Starting what coach Zikry called "Hell Week" with a trip to Moscow, Marseille will be ecstatic to start the season with 3 points in the bag and a clean sheet. "We stress to our defense that we must aim for a clean sheet anytime we step onto the pitch. The team played as well as I could have imagined today and I couldn't be happier with our start to this season".

Andre Ayew would get the goal scoring started as Alessandrini cut in from the left side and took a shot which was blocked not once, but twice by Dynamo but the rebound fell kindly to Andre who rifled in a shot from just outside the box to give the visitors the lead. Marseille would press on for a 2nd and were denied by the post as Romao got his head to a corner but was unlucky not to score, 1-0 at the half.

As the second half progressed Marseille started to sit more and more in a defensive shape, hoping to grab a second on the counter. In the 81st minute their plan came to fruition as Gignac played a delicious through ball with the outside of his foot, giving Michy a 1-on-1 against the keeper as he slotted it nearside to give Marseille the cushion they were looking for. 2-0 at the final whistle as the players refused to shake Valbuena's hand as they trotted over to the away fans to show their appreciation for the travel time they put in to watch this game.

The much anticipated French battle between Lille and Marselle lived up the billing. A back and forth game that miraculously only had one goal in it. That goal came off the foot of, who else, Divock Origi and was enough to propel the visitors from Lille to three points in Marseille.

Origi opened the scoring in the 17th minute. A nice string of passing from the back put the ball on playmaker Marvin Martins foot just outside the 18. He then saw Origi had given himself some space aand fed the striker the ball. Origi did the rest, turning past the Marseille defender and slotting it home. Origi had a chance to make it 2-0 in the 37th minute as he sprinted free past the backline of Marseille to only have his shot clang off the post. The visitors had another great chance just 4 minutes later, as Mandanda stoned Marvin Martin who had found himself with space in the penalty area. The half would end 1-0 with Lille feeling unlucky to be up just 1.

The second half saw a better attack from Marseille as Lille was content to sit back and try to get the 3 points. Alessandrini had an effort curl just wide of the post in the 65th minute. Mandanda again kept Lille from increasing their lead with 2 key saves around the 80 minute mark. The last 5 minutes saw an onslaught from Marseille. They nearly equalized in sensational fashion as Gignacs overhead volley hit the top of the bar. Lille was able to escape with all 3 points.

An impressive Home opener for Lyon, as they Win at Home against Hoffenheim. French International Gourcuff nets a brace to secure three points for Lyon. Hoffenheim draws first blood on a beautiful corner set piece before the 10th minute- but Lyon answers back after an injury on Gourcuff had him playing possum in the back line only for him to spring up for the attack to notch his first of two goals. Lacazette gives Lyon the lead when he was first to a parry by Hoffenheim keeper to nod in his first goal of the season. Gourcuff completes his brace with a beautiful pass from Yattara. A.Modeste notch a goal in the dying minutes, but it was too little too late as Lyon takes three points.

It was a tale of two halves for Sporting CP, as the Lisbon side dropped points to a resilient Besiktas team. The home side simply controlled the match in the 1st half, culminating in two Andre Martins goals. The first was a well-timed run behind the defense, finished with a nice curled effort around the keeper. The 2nd was even better, with Carvalho spraying a long pass from right to left, which found the feet of Nani on the left wing. His cutback was perfectly placed at the feet of Martins, and his shot gave the home side a 2-0 lead into halftime.

But it was all downhill from there for the Lions, as Besiktas steadily increased their influence on the match. After the 71' strike by R. Motta, a winding run past defenders, it seemed the equalizer was inevitable. And in the dying moments of the game, J. Sosa created space for himself (a push off the defender? perhaps...), and slammed a shot off the post and in. Sporting deflated, Besiktas elated, points shared.

Yattara man of the match for Lyon
Some fortunate dribbling and a clumsy tackle gave the Russian Express train the early lead thru a Bousouffa pk. Immediately Lyon stormed back through the dangerous Yattara, who would just make the red defense nervous every time he held the ball. Two goals in a matter of minutes saw the French side in the lead and looking to bury Moscow with its cunning attack.
However just after the break Maicon scores for Lokomotiv to tie it up followed again by the ever present Yattara to put Lyon back up. The russian manager then decided to push up the field and it paid off with three goal in 20 minutes to take back the lead and keep it for good.

    Great game Hokie
