In a foul filled match- Southampton salvages a draw against visiting Olympiakos. Southampton gives up a first half goal as K. Mitroglou finds an onside Dossevi- who nutmegs on rushing MOTM keeper Forster. and the ball slides into net. The Saints return the favor in the 2nd half as in form Schneiderlin finds S. Long open as the Greek Defense backs off their heavy pressure- S. Long was able to beat the rushing keeper to level the match. Southampton must find a way to bolster that Defense and find a scorers touch as the Saints squander multiple opportunities in from of net.

    It reminds me...

Besiktas started well the Serie A campaign this season unlike the last season. Going in to game, if asked Besiktas could have walked away wit 1 point, but the game ended in the favors of visitors 1-2. Like every other season in Serie A the goal for Besiktas is to remain in A , and maybe finish in mid-table. The manager said: " We don`t want to see the same nightmare we saw last season, and have a good, relaxed season.
It is of course the beginning. We have lots of games to play, but hopefully with the new formation and new mentality we won`t be playing for relegation battle."
    Good game HokieNYC
    See you in Istanbul

    Highlights

Good game against fellow friend Broncos218. I rarely win against him, but when I win it is a good one. Besiktas dominated most of the game in midfield and up front. Defense did not give much chances to Dinamo`s forwards to score, but one and only goal came of Dinamo`s goal came from Kokorin`s foot which was a sweet move in the box.
Besiktas took 3 more vital points in opening week, and showed that they don`t really want to play for relegation battle this season.

Good luck with the rest of the games Broncos.

Shakhtar get off to a 2-0-0 start after knocking of Broncos218 and his Dinamo Moskva squad. The Ukrainians controlled the game early but poor finishing in the first half managed them just 1 goal. That came via Taison who followed up a Luiz Adriano shot and tapped the rebound into the empty net. Dinamo was the better side much of the 2nd half and found their equalizer in the 75th minute on a beautifully weighted through ball from Kokorin to Dzsudzsak. Shakhtar would get their winner however. Bernard, who was quiet all game, made a run down the flank and drove in a beautiful cross that Costa was able to volley home perfectly.

    Great Game as always Bronc

A master-class defensive effort and a fortunate penalty decision gave Sporting CP an opening-day win over Zikry in the #CommishDerby. It was the first win in at least 6 games for manager RedAL, whose cautious approach to the match kept the speed of PSV Eindhoven at bay. While Sporting did not create many chances of their own, the referee gave them a golden chance after I. Slimani was clearly fouled inside the 18. A. Silva stepped up to take the kick, and while he didn't look confident, the shot managed to go in for the only goal of the match. R. Patricio came up with a massive one-hand save in the 90' to keep PSV off the scoresheet, and give the Lisbon club a huge 3 points to open the season.

Sporting turn in another solid defensive effort in scoreless draw with misfiring Southampton. The visitors had a handful of opportunities to take the lead, but their shots were not on target. In the end, points shared.

Off the bat Southampton was causing major problems down the left side of Lyons back line with speedy Elia doing much of the damage. Elia had two clear chances on goal and missed them both. After those wake up calls Lyons right back Jallet started pushing forward and provided a perfect cross for N'Jie to head off the crossbar and in just before half. The English side deserved better from the half. In the second Southhampton pushed more men forward and were rewarded when Shane Long found himself open just outside the 6 and hammered home a Schneiderlin cross to tie it up. It was then Lyon who had a few chances that Foster saved and a clear miss by Fekkir to close the game out. Instead, N'Jie was sent thru on goal by Gonalons for the winner near the end.
    Good game Hokie

PSV traveled back home after coming up empty-handed in the Commish Derby eager to collect their first points of the campaign. A dominating first half display was just what the doctor ordered as a comical own goal by the traveling MLS squad set up the home side comfortably, who were able to run out 3-0 winners on the day. Memphis Depay was a menace today, as he was the focal point of the attack and he was able to cash in on two of his chances, racing past the Columbus defense and slotting home with both his right and left foot to lead the Dutch team to victory today. The defense was able to keep the Columbus team quiet for the most part, as they put in a great performance to ensure the clean sheet for Jeroen Zoet, who in three official games has only been beat via the penalty in the 1-0 loss to Sporting.

"I decided to take over this team for their defensive speed, and if we can keep putting up these types of performances throughout the season then I like the club's chances. For a club to make the jump from the bottom of Serie C to Serie A in one season is a big jump, but hopefully I can lead the team through the early season struggles and we will all be better a few weeks into the season once the players are acclimatized to the Serie A way of play".

Sporting CP are on cloud 9 after starting their 16th TFSerie A campaign with 7 points out of a possible 9. The 3-1 win in Greece came after a sluggish start which saw the visiting team go behind after a keen long ball found Mitroglou in the middle, who burst through the defense and slotted home. A change in formation for Sporting in the 2nd half brought on Montero at the expense of creative dynamo Martins, and it immediately paid dividends. After a spectacular volley from Cedric, Jefferson bent in a free kick to give the Lions the lead. Not long after that, Montero pounced on a rebound for an insurance goal, and Sporting's improved defense rode out the match for 3 points.

    Cedric volleys home an equalizer

West Brom Albion's rough introduction to Serie A continues as a visit to Southampton provides another definitive loss for West Brom. Southampton puts up 6 goals in an impressive Win at Home against out of form West Brom. M. Schniederlin's first ever hat-trick plus supporting goals from Elia, Pelle and Long was too much for West Brom-

An early goal looked like a sign that the Saints were going to have a good outing, but a great header from B. Ideye equalizes against the run of play. It looked like a Match was to be had- but the Saints rack up 3 straight goals at both ends of half time to put the game out of reach. Southampton notches their first Win in Serie in impressive fashion.
