GG Andanas O'Keeffe started of a new chapter of his managerial career tonight as he took his Marseille side to French rivals, Lille. It was his first competitive match in charge of the French powerhouses and he did not disappoint. Gignac scored right on half-time and collected his brace in the 90th minute. Marseille squandered a few chances but thoroughly deserved the victory. Lille were hard to break down in the final third and Okeeffe was very happy with the result. Gignac collected the man of the match award and his already setting his sights on the golden boot! His second goal, both headers, is in contention for goal of the week.

A very pale first half left much to be desired as both Celtic and Fener looked timid on the attack. Celtic started off with a more attack minded 4-3-3 formation but the team didn't seem to put the managers tactics to work and a change of formation seemed imminent.

Celtic did change to their more accustomed 4-5-1 after the break and it payed dividends only 10 minutes later when A. Stokes broke the deadlock.
[IMG][/IMG]
The midfield battle continued as Celtic captain S.Brown tripped Fener's number 10 Diego. Not much in the challenge but with 50+ thousand screaming for the card the referee gave in.

A wonderful through ball pass by the Norwegian international Stefan Johansen allowed new signing Gay Mackay-Steven simply destroyed D. Kuyt and Bruno Alves to give the bhoys a well deserved 2 goal lead.
[IMG][/IMG]

A late giveaway by G.Mackay allowed Emenike to get by the Celtic defenders and score a late consolation goal for the turks as it was too little too late and see the visitors leave Istanbul with full points.

After what seemed to be a highly contested goal a brief outage stopped play. Play picked back up with 45' left to go and they wouldn't disappoint. Fener striked first in the second half with Emenike touching the back of the net on a nice flip over the goalie. As the time winded down it seemed shot after shot by Fenerbahce would fall short of the glory until a cross into the box found the head of Korkmaz for the second goal of the game and what seemed as a game clincher. Then in the 90' St. Etienne showed some life as Gradel carried the ball down and dumped it to Erdic to give them the goal. Ultimately the game would end 2-1 in favor of Fener. Donmoyer said the key to the game was keeping the ball short and taking shots when the opportunity presented itself.

GG Edgar Calderon as always. Celtic pretty much dominated this game with 59% of the possession. Gordon was called into action on one occasion when he made an heroic save from Gignac's head. Marseille defended really well and Mandanda recorded his second clean sheet of the season. Nkoulou picked up the MotM award for his leadership at the back. Celtic will be contenders for promotion this season and Marseille should be happy with the point. The remain undefeated this season with a win and a tie. Celtic fans were once again in their thousands following their beloved hoops

An electric atmosphere inside Celtic Park for the opening game of the season propels the bhoys to an emphatic win over English opposition.
It was the Commons and Stokes show as Commons opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, a well placed pass by Stokes puts the Englishman through and after some nifty footwork to elude a couple defenders manages to beat Robert Green.
New signing Gary Mackay-Stevens was brought down inside the box by a clumsy tackle by Chilean international M. Isla and Commons steps up to put the Glasgow side up two with only 16' gone.

Celtic did not let their foot of the gas and found themselves up 3 on 38 minutes when a A. Stoke pass finds the captain S.Brown who with still much left to do, manages a wonderful chip over the helpless Robert Green. QPR was in shambles.
Just before the break C. Gordon managed an incredible save from C. Austin but could do nothing from the ensuing corner when finally Austin managed to beat him.

Not as open a second half like the first 45 but A. Stokes did manage to get in the score sheet when he was able to get away from N. Kranjcar and score the fourth of the night in the 89th minute.

Very harsh scoreline, feel very lucky to get 3 points from what i feel is going to be a tough opponent in Serie C this season.

GG KJLamb23 Marseille finished off week 1 with another victory. They now improve their season to two wins and one tie under new manager Okeeffe. It was a fairly close first half with both sides canceling each other out. Gignac bagged the opening goal of the game and his third in three matches. Goal of the year winner Movsisyan equalized just a minute later before Ocampos put the French side back in front with 10 minutes remaining in first half. Marseille stepped up their game in the second half with goals from Ayew and Gignac to clinch convincing 4-1 victory. Gignac takes his season total to 4 and Marseille continue to impress. Look our for Ayew's goal - a contender for GOTW

After starting the season with two losses Spartak Moskva hosted ASinghal31 and Lokomotiv in their first home match of the year. Lokomotiv struck first with a goal in the 37th minute by Fernandes. With Spartak looking likely to start the season with 3 losses in Week 1, they pulled a shocker with a goal in stoppage time from Movsisyan to make it even and end the week with a draw.

QPR finishes off their first week in TFSerie C with a bang. After losing their first game in heartbreaking fashion and then not even showing up against Celtic, we were looking forward to playing to our full potential. The start was very dull. Neither team looked very sharp in the final third and it seemed as if this game would be long and scoreless. Then QPR sprang to life as Niko Kranjcar almost found the top corner on a cheeky finesse shot from 30 yards out. Minutes later Kranjcar uses his sneaky footwork to find room on the touchline and fire a cross into the box that is met by Charlie Austin's head. Nothing the keeper could do but watch it bulge the back of the net. 6 minutes later, QPR's defense parted like the red sea and Spartak was through on goal with only the keeper to beat. He slotted it wide right and falls to the grass knowing he missed an opportunity to draw even. Eventually Spartak found their way into the box and into the net. Striker A. Ozbiliz beats Green to the right to equalize!

Halftime whistle.

Second half starts the same way first half starts, very slowly. Looking like it may continue to be a 1-1 draw in the 65th minute, Mauricio Isla passes to Niko Kranjcar at the mid pitch line and he starts his marauding "yaya toure-esque" run towards the goal. Shrugging off one defender and slipping in between two more, Niko slots it to the keepers left and gives QPR a 2-1 lead in front of the home crowd at Loftus Road! From there, QPR never looked back. In the 72nd minute, Junior Hoilett passes to Charlie Austin's feet at the edge of the 18 yard box. Charlie turns, takes one touch, and puts it in the top left corner for a brace and a 3-1 lead. 90 minutes gone and QPR earns their 2nd corner kick of the night. The 4th official shows 2 minutes of stoppage time on the board. The fans at Loftus Road are chanting Charlie Austin's name. They want to see a hat trick. Niko Kranjcar steps into the corner kick and BOOM! Charlie Austin grants the chanting fans wishes! The ball skids off Charlie's head and bulges the back of the net. HAT TRICK! Spartak kicks off and there goes the final whistle. Fans are ecstatic as QPR finally look like themselves at home!

Charlie Austin's hat trick brings his total to 5 goals on the season. Looking to snag Serie C Golden Boot!

A very strong start to the new campaign continued for Udinese as they played host to Russian side Locomotiv Moscow. Udinese came into this match with a gaurded optimism winning their last match against Franfurt 1-0 and pulling a miracle header off Di Natalali in the 90th to secure a point against Villa.
Udinese played another tight defensive game today, as most of Locomotiv's 12 shots were of long range. However, when called upon the Greek international was superb . Udinese got on the board first in this match going up 1-0 at the 63rd min. Moscow however would get level a few minutes later on the 68th min as the Udinese side became a little weak kneed. Both sides would continue to grind out this match looking for a winner that did not come.

So after Week 1, Udinese sees themselves with 5 points and a record of 1-0-2.
Who would have imagined that heading into the new season.

Antonio Di Natale's extra time header hands a point to Udinese in a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

Gabriel Agbonlahor opened Villa's account in the 13th minute when a blocked shot fell to his feet in the box. Agbonlahor rolled the ball into the lower corner for an easy goal.

Villa dominated much of the match but couldn't finish some fine chances.

Udinese began pressing late and their hard work paid off. A turnover at midfield forced the Villa back line to clear the ball out of bounds. A throw in, a missed tackle and Di Natale held off Ron Vlaar to head home the cross and snatch the point.

Lots of chances created, but no goals. Both keepers stood tall, with Kevin Trapp making several top notch saves.
