    S1W2 Game

    Bilbao 1 - 2 Marseille

    Bilbao
    :goal: Aduriz 76'
    Benat (OG) 87'
    :trophy: LB Balenzlaga

    Marseille
    :goal: Gignac 82' :assist: Valbuena
    :yellowcard: Imbula

This game was a defensive matchup for the first 70', as neither offense could get untracked in the rain. Then, Bilbao broke the ice after a pass was deflected deep into Marseille's end of the field. Aduriz was able to score on a nice chip for the 1-0 lead. Marseille answered 6' later on a header from Gignac. Both teams were pushing the pace late, but Marseille was able to force a corner. They hit a nice header in the box that was botched by Bilbao defender Benat for an own goal and a 2-1 Marseille late lead. GG Jon MK. Tough to lose on the OG.

    Villarreal [4] @ Gladbach [0]

Dominant performance from the yellow submarines as they came out ready to make a statement against the mighty german side. The game started off a bit sloppy from both sides and was really tied up in the midfield when the mexican, aquino, broke the deadlock with what some would consider a wonderstrike. Taking the ball across the center of the 18 yard box, and with his weaker foot blasting a shot into the goal to open the mark. The away side was riding high in confidence and it showed in their play. Controlling possession and at times frustrating the german side, and it wouldn't be long before the yellow submarine got on the board again, and it was Aquino again who got the goal. When Gio put a cross into the box, when Tomas Pina controlled, slid a ball over to Aquino who made no mistake. Into halftime it went 2-0, with the german side always looking threatening going forward but just couldn't seem to find the back of the net.

The second half was much of the same, the germans pressing and the yellow submarine looking to control the ball, the second half wore on and what looked like a german comeback taking place and the villarreal goal getting peppered with shots, it was the away side that scored the third goal. This time it was Uche who got on the end of a cross, hit the cross bar but was able to get the round for the clincher. Towards the end of the game the away side added a fourth and the game finished 4-0. Dominant scoreline from the away side but had the germans been on with their shots could have been entirely different. GG Ricky Boots

    Villarreal [3] v Lokomotiv [2]

A Game that lived up to its prematch hype, back and forth all game long and really a performance that probably should have had the russians coming away with some points. The russians looked to rough up the smaller Spaniards in the middle of the park and for the most part it did render the attacking trio of the yellow submarine inert but in the 29th minute a penalty gave villarreal the chance that they hadn't been able to create and Gio dos Santos would not miss. Placing a penalty perfectly into the top corner, where not even a diving the right way Guilherme could stop it. The lead would not last long however, as Pav, the former spurs man, who had done nothing right all half, blasted a shot into the post and in for the equalizer. Into the half the game went 1-1.

Lokomotiv, came out the second half with two changes, looking for all three points but it was villarreal, in the 60th minute that pulled ahead. After a lokomotiv foul 31 yards out, it was the mexican again, Gio Dos Santos with a goal of the year candidate, beautifully taking a free kick and again placing it into the top corner of the goal. However, yet again, the lead would not last long as Boussoufa found the equalizer just three minutes later. 2-2 after 63 minutes of game time with neither team looking to back down. Both teams made changes looking for the win but nothing came to fruition until the 90th minute for the yellow submarine. In what some might consider a huge error from the keeper (others might call it great goalkeeping!), Bruno fired a shot from the top of the box at the bottom corner, which the keeper saved but the rebound fell nicely to dos Santos who blasted it in for what would turn out to be the winner. This wasn't it though, as lokomotiv did have a chance to draw level but the whipped in cross could only be pushed wide by Calcedo. Game ends 3-2 in favor of the home side in a thriller. Villarreal [5] v Celtic [3]

What a game, an 8 goal thriller in Estadio El Madrigal. The fans wanted a show and they got one. Celtic came out strong scoring early in the 4th minute through a Stokes Bullet from 25 yards out, which silenced the crowd and put some tension into the air. The tension was eased slightly when Dos Santos got on the end of a cross at the far post in the 26th minute to make it 1-1. The draw, however, would not last long as Celtic didn't just score one but two goals to go ahead 3-1 going into the 42nd minute. The crowd was stunned, as was the manager marcelino. After dominating Celtic in the cup he was not expecting this but to ease some concerns Cani got a goal just before the break and into the half it went with Villarreal trailing 3-2.

The halftime tension only grew going into the second half but the tension would go away shortly as the other mexican, Aquino, got the equalizer in the 54th minute sending the yellow submarine faithful into a frenzy. With the game all knotted up neither team was willing to give an inch, both teams were always looking to go forward and in the 62nd minute Gio dos Santos got his second giving Villarreal the lead for the first time in the game at 4-3. Things began to get really physical in the middle of the park with Celtic players picking up a pair of yellow cards before the 85th minute and it was in the 87th minute when the game would be put to bed. The little used Sub, Perbet, put the game away with a classy goal to make it 5-3 and secure all three points for the yellow submarine. It was harder than expected, but a win is a win. GG niuhuskie224

Hamburg and Marseille played about 10 days ago, but the result hasn't been posted yet. I believe it was 2-1 Hamburg, but I do not have the scorers.
