Bama Wins At Kyle Field 31-21 Behind Sims' Arm Blake Sims went 20-22 for 295 yards, 3 scores, and 0 picks to lead the Crimson Tide over the Aggies at Kyle Field. Both teams were moving up and down the field- A&M with a fast paced no huddle, and Bama with their slow methodical "hurry up". The Tide's slower pace showed on the T.O.P as they edged TAMU by 4 minutes in that category. There was only one turnover on the day, as Trey Depriest got the jump on a Johnny Football pass; although Alabama was not able to turn the takeaway into points. Terrapins Upend Noles College Park, MD- After winning for the first time ever in Tallahassee last season, the Terrapins tried to do something else they have never done, win back to back games against the Noles. Wearing their Black Ops uniforms before a sellout crowd of 54,472, Byrd stadium was rocking. The Seminoles took the ball down the field on their first drive showing as they did all day the ability to move the ball on the dominant terrapins defense. But as the Terps have done all season, they consistently bended but rarely broke forcing an INT on the drive. The defense would force 4 on the day. The teams traded scores and entered the half tied at 14-14. The 3rd quarter was scoreless for both teams, and the 4th quarter was moving that way until the Terrapins began their march down the field. With ball at the 5 yard line the Terps ran 4 plays and ended up without any points. This was the second time the Terrapins were consistently stopped inside the 5 yard line. Working from their own endzone the Seminoles started to move the ball, but two plays after the goal line stop threw another pick. Maryland again moved the ball inside the 5 yard line, but a holding call on a would be rushing TD forced the Terrapins to end up settling for a FG with only 3:45 on the clock. With the ball in hand the Seminoles moved down the field with ease and ended their drive with a 15 yard TD pass from Jameis Winston on 3rd down. The Seminoles now held a 21-17 lead with 1:38 remaining. The Terrapins in 5 plays had punched the ball in the endzone by using a surprise running attack that had been nonexistant for most of the game. With a 3 yard TD by Brandon Ross the Terrpains now had a 24-21 lead with 51 seconds left. The Seminoles had no intention of rolling over. After getting 2 first downs, the Seminoles looked like they might be poised to at elast tie the game if not take the lead. After escaping some pressure jameis Winston threw a pick that would seal the victory for the Terrapins and their first ever winning streak against the Seminoles.
Just routed Oregon State 62-31. Brandon Williams ran for 4 TDs and caught an extra score. Manziel is becoming a pure passer. Only 1 run today and the rest were kneel downs. Kennedy and Evans caught for over 100 and the defense returned a pick 6. Hate to have beat em that bad, but my run game wouldnt stop scoring.
Your lack of running with Manziel saved me a massive headache. I gotta say though- I am a huge fan of the short passing attack you run. Those quick throws getting guys in space is something I've never seen done on TSO so well. I think I'm going to try working those smoke passes into my game. I tried a couple in an offline game, but it seems like I always try to throw it too soon and the button doesn't register, so I am a second or two behind the play and if I try to throw it then it is picked or knocked down. Any tips?
Sometimes the button does get stuck and the QB looks like a duck on those smoke screens. All I can help on that is to be patient and hit him half a second later and lead him down the field. You need to be getting down field in a hurry and a good way to do that is leading him like you would a fade ball. Most of my short passes come from pre-snap reads. If teams dont have a man on top of every WR, they are getting screened. You cant let defenses get away with having a safety over a slot. After that the quick outs are very effective. Probably too good honestly because they destroy man coverage vs the spread. A few things I look at is: 1. 1 safety or 2? 2 tells us Cover 2, cover 4, man and an occasional cover 3 switch (which is the devil for spread teams). 1 safety tells us blitz, cover 1, cover 3. 2. Corner/Inside DB depth. Are they pressing? Are they 7 yards off? Is that CB coming on a CAT blitz? You know what routes beat what because you were killing me with the TEs. So on the short stuff its more pre-snap than anything. 1 read is usually all you need to limit the reads during the play. Hope that helps
Very helpful man- Also helpful from a defensive standpoint. I tried to make switches in my coverage at the line of scrimmage to try to throw you off. Come out in Cover 3, audible to man- vice versa and etc.
