    Grade:

    C+

Napoli got off to a hot start in Serie B, topping the table after a 4-1-1 start to the campaign. Considering Nickaepi finished 9th (of 10) last season, the turnaround was astounding, and would warrant an A grade. However, Napoli have since cooled off, and while they are not out of the title chase just yet, the Italians have slumped to 9th (of 12) in the table. A late season hot streak on the back of leading scorer Edinson Cavani (9 goals) could vault the Azzurri into the promotion picture. Napoli's grade could be higher if not for the slump, so a C+ is the grade.

    HAMBURGER SV

    GRADE:

    C+

Broncos218 and Hamburger SV stumbled out of the gate in season 2 and never quite recovered. Last season's champions and joint top scorers (37 GF) have managed a goal differential of +5, a 16 goal drop from last season. The drastic reduction in goal scoring has led to a mediocre 6-5-6 record for the Germans. With 5 games left in their season, 4 of which against teams below them in the standings, Hamburger SV could improve their record and perception in the final table, but a repeat as champions is almost entirely out of the picture. The grade is a C+, because defending champions are graded on a harsher scale.

Not quite the same results as last season, but don't forget, the Hamburgers are still fightin' (& into the semis) for the cup! Nice write-up RedAL925

    BESIKTAS

    GRADE:

    B

Much like fellow Serie B side Napoli, BESHIKTAS and Besiktas have made great strides since season one. A 7th-place finish (of 10) was mediocre, and the -9 goal differential was certainly cause for concern. In season 2, the Turks climbed up the table and are battling for a promotion place, currently tied for 4th with 26 pts. It remains to be seen whether or not Besiktas have enough in the tank to get there, but the improvement from last season warrants a solid B grade.

    ATHLETIC BILBAO

    GRADE:

    B+

After breezing through the Serie B campaign and earning automatic promotion, Paulitix and Athletic Club would face a much stiffer test in the top flight. A slow start for the new boys probably cost them a shot at the title, but lately the Spaniards have been bagging some impressive scalps, including Everton and LOSC Lille. Fernando Llorente and co. have turned in a solid first season in Serie A, and are now sitting in a respectable 6th place. B+ is the grade, as the new boys have exceeded expectations in the top flight.
