Renegade leads Seminoles on to the field as the Noles defeat the Badgers!

    Renegage.jpg

The game was very sloppy as both quarterbacks were not on their "A" game. They were missing wide open receivers and throwing balls in the stands. Going into the second half Coach Woods decided to lean on a tough run game and strong defense to seal the deal for the Noles. As things tightened late in the 4th qrt, Redshirt Soph, Jameis Winston bailed the Noles out with a nice 42 yard scamper on a option play dead into the Badgers territory. This was a great win for the Noles coming off a 2-10 season last year. Star RB Freeman was the game MVP after rushing for 90 yards on 25 Carries and 2 tds.

The Noles next challenge comes in Stillwater, OK where the face the #17 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys.

    #18 UNC 24 v. #13 NEBRASKA 6

UNC set the tone early with their defense, stopping the Cornhuskers to a three and out on the first possession of the game. The offense followed suit and drove the ball down the field for a touchdown on a 2 yard run by #21 Romar Morris. Both teams traded field goals in the second quarter, and UNC took a 10-6 lead into the half.

The second half proved similar to the first drive for for the Cornhuskers, as the UNC defense suffocated the running and passing attack of Nebraska. Nebraska failed to gain any momentum and only accumulated 207 total yards for the game, in which they were held scoreless the second half.

UNC's offense showed signs dominance, but mixed that with plenty of knuckleheaded plays, including an arrant throw way off mark for an interception and a fumble in the red zone. The Tar Heels were able to tack on two more touchdowns in the second half, the second of which was scored by heralded freshman RB Sean Turner.

Overall, a good opening win on National Television for the Tar Heels, and great promise, as the defense was dominant the entire afternoon. The Tar Heels host #11 Missouri in Week 2.
