Vikings Bounce Back; Get Big W at Home Versus Eagles
Minneapolis, MN - The Vikings, coming off an embarrassing loss to the Falcons in Week 13, looked to bounce back in Week 14 versus the (4-8) Eagles. The team came to play on both sides of the ball, and walked away with an impressive victory to get them back on track.
The Eagles received the ball first, and started off the game hot, putting together what would end up being their best drive of the night. The drive fell short, however, and they had to settle for a 26-yard FG by Alex Henery. The Vikings would respond with a time-consuming drive of their own, lead by All-Pro Adrian Peterson as he would gash the Eagles defense all day. He scored from 4 yards out to give the Vikings a 7-3 lead after 1 quarter of play.
The second quarter was dominated by the Vikings, as they would score three times in the final 4 minutes of play - 2 more rushing TD's by Adrian Peterson (inching him closer to the single-season TD record, now sitting at 24 for the year). The Eagles, instead of running out the clock with 13 seconds left, decided to throw and rookie QB Frankie Henderson threw an errant pass that was intercepted by CB Chris Cook and taken 35 yards to paydirt. Score at the half: 28-3 in favor of the Vikings.
The second half was controlled by the Vikings D and running game. The Eagles were held to 18 rushing yards on 13 carries, and managed only 192 yards of total offense on the day. The only score in the second half - a 1-yd TD run by FB Jerome Felton.
