Lions Defense Overwhelms Bears With 8 Sacks 27-0 Win
Detroit came in today with an 1-3 record and fans already skeptical of Detroit's less than illustrious history. Many thought the trade for Corey Peters for talented RB Jahvid Best was a bad move but Coach Westcott knew that the defense needed to be addressed. "The stats don't lie" coach Westcott said "Since Peters came her two weeks ago we went from 0 sacks to 12 team sacks, that's a big difference."

The Lions traded possessions with the Bears then Stafford hit Stephens-Howling with a 17 yard touchdown strike to give Detroit a 7-0 lead. There was not much to be had for the wide receivers today. "Coach Lukas Smith has done wonders with their secondary, there wasn't much to be had the whole game and we knew we needed to get a real running game going." Coach Westcott commented after the game.

Rookie Ladarius Mitchell, who the Lions grabbed in the seventh round, added another score with a 63 yard scamper for paydirt to give Detroit a 14-0 lead. But the real story was the D-Line, who kept the Bears offensive attack under wraps and containing Forte with tallying 8 sacks. "They played great and won the game for us, other than a couple of plays we didn't really move the ball well and credit the Bears for keeping the game out of hand." Coach Westcott concluded.
