    Niners Prevail at Home

The San Francisco 49ers prevailed at home in a tightly contested game, keeping alive their slim playoff hopes after a disastrous 2-5 start.

It didn't begin well for San Francisco as they punted on their first possession and saw the Eagles score on a 61 yard TD pass from Frankie Henderson to WR Jeremy Maclin on their first play from scrimmage. After another San Francisco punt, the Eagles would march down the field, only this time they would miss a field goal attempt.

The miss by Philadelphia jump-started the 49ers' offense, which drove the length of the field for the tying touchdown on a one yard plunge by HB Frank Gore. Later on in the first half, San Francisco would add a field goal to extend their lead 10-7. After a turnover by San Francisco inside their own territory, the Eagles would have a chance to take the lead, but would instead turn the ball over themselves, keeping the score intact.

The second half saw Philadelphia tie the game at 10, a score that would remain until the forth quarter. The Niners, using a few big plays got into Philadelphia territory before Colin Kaepernick hit WR Joshua Jackson all alone on a corner route for a 39 yard TD pass and a 17-10 lead. Not to be outdone, Philadelphia would answer with a touchdown of their own as Henderson would find WR Jason Avant for 21 yard out to again tie the game.

San Francisco was again able to move the ball on the Eagles defense using a big play on offense, but would settle for a short field goal with under two minutes left to play to go up three, at 20-17. While the Eagles had a good return on the kickoff to get to around their 35 yard line, after a couple first downs, they would fail to convert on a 4th and 7 to end the game.

PAgamer07, Good game. After your first touchdown, I thought I would be in for a long one. Your receivers dropped some balls that could have really blown the game open.
