Raiders Force Seven Turnovers and McFadden Breaks Out for 200 Yards and 2 TDs.

In this week 2 match up, the Oakland Raiders visit Miami after a big win against division rival Chargers in week 1. Miami on the other hand took a big loss to the Titans and look to rebound in this weeks matchup.

Miami jumped out to an early lead 7-0 after both teams failed on their initial possession and ended up going into halftime up 23-14 after adding a safety and another TD score. That was when the Raiders exploded in the 2nd half with 34 points and hold the Dolphins to just 10 points in the 2nd half. The Raiders ended up winning the game 48-33 to go 2-0

In this game, the Raiders started off slowly in the game struggling to get Mcfadden going for more of the 1st half. McFadden who is the key to the offense had a pedestrian performance last week, but still managed over 100 yards and struggled early on to get 2 or 3 yards against a tough Miami Defense. McFadden was under 50 yards rushing going into halftime. In the 2nd half, it was a different story as McFadden finally found some holes in the Miami defense especially between the tackles and guards and gashed the Dolphins racking up close to 200 yards alone in the 2nd half. The game was still close with the Raiders up just five points, but McFadden broke out of multiple tackles up the gut for a 60 yard run for TD. McFadden sealed the game with a late 48 yard TD run to put the Dolphins out of reach. The Raiders are a run first team and although McFadden struggled, the Raiders kept calling his number and McFadden came through with a 221 yard game on 27 carries.

Carson Palmer had another efficient game completing 11 out of 18 passes for 165 yards and threw for another 3 TDs with no INTs in the game. In two weeks, Palmer now has 6 TDs with 0 Ints. Clearly, Palmer is on his game and in sync with his favorite target DHB who grabbed 5 balls for 80 yards and a TD catch. With the Raider offense playing well on both the run and pass, Raiders offense is going to be tough to stop going forward.

Much of the success this game was due to another great performance by the defense. Although giving up 550 yards in total offense against the Dolphins, the Raiders beat their 6 INT performance in week 1 with 7 more picks this game. Curry was able to return his INT for a TD score. AFC defensive player of the week Michael Huff is out 5 weeks and back up Giordano came through with a solid game with an INT. Hussan Abdallah was a late sign for depth at the FS position and he came through with 5 tackles and an INT to make up for Huff's abscence. The Raiders secondary which was seen to be a weakness is showing a bend but dont break performance, giving up 400 yards passing this week, but able to force some turnovers.

The Dolphins started off very strong taking a 9 point half time lead after a safety and a late 1st half TD. They were able to do this behind the running of Bush and the the Tannehill and Fleener connection. Fleener finished with 9 catches and 136 receiving, but Tannenhill also connected with Bess 9 times and James jone 6 times for almost 300 combined receiving yards. The problem was, the Dolphins seemed to go away from the run after early success and that resulted in more opportunites for Tannenhill to throw picks. The 7 INTs just brought down the Dolphins and they werent able to recover, combine that with the inability to stop McFadden i nthe 2nd half resulted in the Dolphins giving up 34 points in the 2nd half and taking another tough defeat.

The game could of ended differently if they focused on the run game with Bush who finished with 89 yards on 18 carries with most of that in the 1st half.

Wow! I never thought Rivers 6 pick performance would be upstaged. I still think Rivers has the record for most picks sixes in a game though....The Raider Defense is legit. I'm thinking a really conservative passing attack mixed with a breakout rushing day is going to be the recipe for taking down the Raiders.
