The Cy HipHopp Era Begins in Louisville After the abrupt departure of Charlie Strong the Louisville faithfull were full of anxiety. QB Teddy Bridgewater calmed the masses early with a 40 yard strike to WR DeVante Parker. The crowd held their breath again when FIU HB Kedrick Rhodes took it 69 yards right up the middle shortly after. Apparently that pissed off the Louisville defense. They proceeded to shut down the FUI offensive attack. They were only able to collect one sack by Sr DE Marcus Smith but the secondary blanketed the FIU recieving corps all afternoon. FS Anthony Branch helped the Ville pull away with a pick 6 and stud CB Andrew Johnson collected 3 picks of his own including one as time expired. Johnson proceeded to return the pick toward the end zone but took mercy and slowed up to get tackled at the 1 yard line. Take away the cluke 69 yard run and the Louisville defense completely shut down the FIU offense, only allowing 70 yards passing despite the Panthers being down early and wanting to pass their way back into it. Louisville fans have to be happy that coach HipHopp is keeping the Cardinal program moving forward so far. The real tests will be when conference play begins.
