Big game for the Saints as they try not to fall 2-5 and out of the playoff hunt early. Curtis Lofton returned from his 7 week injury and helped the defense prevent any offensive points for the Carolina offense. And Darren Sproles was inserted as the primary back and it paid off big time. This one started like a lot of Saints games thus far. Sproles took the second play from scrimmage and sped to the right and got pounded for a scoop and score for the defense. Carolina led early 7-0, but unkowingly this was the only score of the game for the Panthers. Not a good sign for the new position Sproles was put in. The team felt it necessary to involve him more to try and save the season. Thomas & Graham were not cutting it. Sproles was primarily used as a change of pace back and 3rd down specialist. Eventually the offense was too much to contain and it exploded this week for +400 yards of offense. Both defenses played well early. At the half the score was 10-7 Saints. Panthers left 6 points on the board with two first half missed FG. In the second half the Saints go their mojo back. The screen pass to Sproles was gashing the Carolina Defense and the running game finially provided it's first 100- yard rushing performance by a single back. In the end it was all Sproles in his best game of his carrer. He elipsed the 100- yard rushing and receiving which also included 5 TD (2 rushing, 3 rec.) The final score was Saints 38- Panthers 7. Tough game Blaza everything came together in the second half for us. Next time!
