Steelers Beat Browns 34-31 in Tough Division Showdown.
The Pittsburgh Steelers took control of the AFC North this afternoon by beating the only team that could contend for the AFC North crown at the moment, The Browns. Cleveland, fuiled by a noisy crowd and a hostile rivalry atmosphere jumped all over the Steelers early on. Led by second year Brandon Weeden the Browns looked ready to topple to Steelers going up 21-10 at halftime. The second half would prove to be a little bit more difficult for the Browns. Pittsburghs defense who had trouble stopping the passing game was able to intercept a Weeden pass in the fourth quarter to go ahead 31-24. In situations like this the Browns of old were very good at turning the ball over to the Steelers, but this team proved that they have some serious fight in them. Brandon Weeden led the Cleveland charge overcoming two fourth down scenarios to get the Browns into the endzone to tie the ballgame up with only 1:04 left. Ben Roethlisberger, who struggled to complete passes in this one stepped up big in the fourth quarter. Completing third down passes to Mike Wallace and Joshua Cribbs. The pass to Joshua Cribbs was the pass that basically started a wave of Browns fans exiting the stadium. Ben hit Cribbs over the middle to put the Steelers into field goal range. We can't leave out the fact that Roethlisberger on second down scrambled up the middle for 20 yards to set up the Cribbs completion. Pittsburgh kicked the game winning field goal as time expired and the Steelers won their fifth straight. Pittsburgh advances to 7-2 and go into a perfect bye week to let Larry Foote and Antonio Brown heal up for the second half of the season. The Steelers only need to do one thing, and thats keep winning and the playoffs will be here before they know it.
The Browns showed that they have a franchise Quartback in Brandon Weeden
