Shakhtar picks right up where they left off last seasons. The defending champions earned all 3 points in the season 21 kickoff classic with a 2-0 victory over longtime friend/rival wSeals9 and his Atletico Mineiro squad.

    O. Gladkyi got the scoring started in stoppage time of the first half. V. Kovalenko beat a man down the wing and was able to swing in an early ball that Gladkyi placed into the side netting with his head. Bernard doubled the lead in the 66th minute when, though an unlikely target, the tiny Brazilian found himself on the end of a corner kick that he was able to head home. The 2-0 final seemed the fair result and captain Darijo Srna received Man of the Match honors.

    Re'Donk'ulous Start For Galatasaray
Galatasaray hosted newly-promoted Bournemouth to begin Season 21 play, and the Turkish side quickly gave the newbies a rude awakening. Bournemouth appeared to be the more dangerous side after scoring in the 2nd minute, but Gala came roaring back to make it 3-1 Galatasaray by the 20th minute- thanks in large part to defensive midfielder Ryan Donk's 2 goals. Bournemouth scored with 15 minutes remaining in the game to make it interesting, but that only left the door open for another Gala goal in the 90th minute. "Strong start to the season, we're looking forward to building on this momentum," said Coach Bronc. Surprisingly, Galatasaray opened the match in a 3-5-2 formation- but even more surprising was perhaps Bournemouth's move to the 4-3-3. The Bournemouth manager reverted back to his usual 4-2-4 following the early onslaught of goals, while Galatasaray maintained consistent play in the 3-5-2. "Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire I guess," said Coach Bronc. "Bournemouth plays a very attacking style, but they didn't seem prepared for our own attack." When asked if he'll continue to run with a 3-5-2 formation, Coach Bronc seemed noncomittal. "I used it for a season back in my Anzhi days, but we scrapped it the following season since it was just too tough on our defense and forced us to allow far too many goals. But we experimented with some changes this offseason and the 3-5-2 led to some good days. A lot of Italian teams have used it recently, so we're trying to take that blueprint and apply it here. But at the end of the day, we're going to adapt to what the opposition is doing as well."

    Gumus Goal Spoils Lou's Return
Galatasaray traveled on the road to face Marseille today, facing a club reunited with their former manager. With Lou back at the helm of Marseille, Galatasaray quickly found themselves facing a tougher Lou team than they had previously been accustomed to. "I've gone head-to-head against Lou many times, both in league play and in international play. He can beat you on any given day, but his team was certainly more potent today than his Sassuolo team ever was a season ago," said Coach Bronc. Galatasaray was still the first to strike though, as Lukas Podolski tapped in a loose ball from a 3-person cluster to put his team up 1-0. "Instinctive, goal-poaching touch is what makes a world-class striker indeed world-class," said Coach Bronc when speaking about Podolski's goal. Marseille equalized in the 71st minute, but Gala fought back and found the eventual winner in the 84th minute. "I thought we had some bad defensive breakdowns for a stretch there in the 2nd half, and that eventually cost us the lead. But on a positive note, that appeared to re-fuel our guys and pushed us to grab one more to get the win." Galatasaray now has one match remaining in the matchweek, and will surely hope to defeat Watford for a 9-point opening week.

Malaga had a nice attack early on and finally found a goal at the unlikeliness of an angle when Castro led Uche to a near post and he kept his dribble alive to fit the ball between the post and the keeper on a nice strike. From there on Malaga continued to add to their total while in the last 20 minutes of the match, Torino's attack was coming in waves where Ochoa kept them off the board and took home the opening 3 points of League A.

Shakhtar makes it 6 out of 6 points through their first pair of matches as they earned a 2-0 win over BigBeansMcGee and Real Betis. Beans, making his return to A, will likely feel like they deserved a bit more from his A opener.

Taison scored both goals for the home side. The first came after a Marlos curler rang off the post and the Brazilian ace was there to tap home the rebound. The second goal was orchestrated by Stepanenko who chipped a a lovely ball from just outside the 18 to the sprinting Taison who made no mistake on the finish.

In the first minute Malaga received a turnover from Betis and capitalized as Camancho put the ball in the back of the net. Then a beautiful cross that ended up being a diving header by Castro to equalize the match. From there on, Malaga took control as Charles and Uche were able to find the net. Charles had the most difficult of the two goals as he was pressure and the ball was knocked away from him but he recovered and put Mal up 2-1. Uche was able to score his second in as many matches as he received a lead pass and cut back to the middle of the box and struck a beaut in the top right 90 for a 3-1 lead.

Shakhtar caps off their first matchweek with the full 9 points with a 2-0 win over Olympiakos. It was the best Shakhtar has played thus far on the young season and they will hope that trend continues as we go forwards.

Bernard got the scoring started with a beautiful solo effort. He spun by two defenders and sprinted into the box before launching one into the back of the net. The visitors made the margin 2 on an excellent break. A give and go on the wing gave Shakhtar an odd man break that ended when a Gladkyi back heel found Marlos who slotted it by the onrushing keeper.

In Marseille's 2nd game of S21, Manager Lou has already equaled his win total as Sassuolo's manager for S20. "I think that this team just is quicker to the ball and attacks with a purpose. Cabella is adept at creating space and our players run to open spots naturally, none of it is as forced as it felt at Sassuolo. Also, our defense is much better than Sassuolo's. I think we took advantage of a Watford team that expected us to play like Sassuolo, instead of Marseille. Hopefully, we can get be on the right side of more of these types of outcomes this year." stated Lou.

Rumors are swirling that many on this team could leave next transfer window, but Lou simply shrugged it all off. "We play S21 now, I can't get caught up in what could happen later." Lou exclaimed.

Marseille and Gent experienced a power outage attributed to a 2.5 year old electrical breaker that created a loss of power throughout the stadium. Play resumed about 45 minutes later, but the 1-0 lead that KAA Gent held seemed less formidable, especially after both of Gent's CBs were shown the showers after both getting red cards. Batshuayi equalized with the penalty, but Gent still tried to gain 3 points in the contest. That seemed to be Gent's undoing in the end, as they left themselves open to the Marseille counter. Cabella really created problems for Gent, as they just could not contain him in the 2nd half.

A bizarre matchweek comes to a close for Gent as now 3 players face suspension next week, two on red cards and another on yellow card accumulation.

Nonetheless, a thrilling match and a few favorable bounces found Gent ahead on the scoreboard 3-2. Mbark Boussoufa capped off a strong showing in Cup play with another stellar performance. Though he fell short of earning Man of the Match honors, the players all credited him for the success that Gent found on the pitch today.
"Mbark has been fantastic all week, and we may very well be sitting with zero points if not for his heroics," said ST Depoitre.

A pair of tap in rebounds from the goal poacher Oleksandr GladKyi is the difference as Shakhtar tops Galatasaray 2-0.

Shakhtar rallies back from a halftime deficit to top longtime friend and rival ASinghal31 and KAA Gent 2-1. Depoitre scored early on beautiful ground cross from Simon that he was able to slot into the top corner. Gent carried that 1 goal lead into half but Shakhtar would respond. Shortly after the break, a Stepanenko pass found a tiny window and put Taison in on the keeper where he made no mistake in tying the game at 1. It was the "does-it-all" left back that scored the winner. Acevedo took a layoff from Bernard, took a fake shot to get it onto his favored left foot, and fired it past the outstretched keeper.
