Yet again the Buccs somehow edge out a close one to go 3-1 under coach Spy. Panthers were held to a FG on their first drive, before Nelson scored the TD to give the Buccs a 7-3 lead after the first.
It was all Carolina in the 2nd quarter, scoring twice and shutting down the Tampa Bay attack to lead 17-7 at the break.
Buccs fought back when Nelson again scored, this time off a slant and raced in from 30 yards out. Some good D by the Buccs held Panthers to just a solitary FG in the second half.
Panthers seemed to go conservative with a 20-14 lead, and this proved vital as the Buccs had possession going into the final 2 minutes. A combination of good clock management, a crucial 4th down conversion and also a surprise as the Panthers did not use any TO's, meaning the Buccs could take the lead with 3o seconds remaining when Williams converted the TD pass.
However the Panthers did have enough time to get up field and get a game winning FG, but a wayward Newton pass was picked off and gave the Buccs another big win.
