UNC would face the #8 team in the nation this week, and it took everything they had to pull out a win. Both teams played sloppy on offense, with ND scoring in the very last seconds of the first half and thrusting a dagger into Carolina's momentum. The third quarter went piss poor, as ND maintained it's 17-7 lead going into the fourth. Trubisky really turned on the jets in the fourth, determined not to lose. Early in the fourth quarter, he found Quinshad Davis on an out route, and Davis juked a defender and left him in the dust, sprinting down field for a long TD reception. ND drove right back down the field, but UNC made a huge stop on third and short to hold the Irish to a FG. Trubisky led another inspiring drive to regain the lead, this time hitting the TE Jack Tabb for an 18 yard TD. ND had plenty of time left and were only down one.

Hendrix took them down the field, and it looked all but inevitable that they would at least get a two point lead as they struck the redzone. On second down, senior LB Heffernan made an amazing play, baiting Hendrix to make a poor throw as he jumped the pass for an INT (user INT ;) ). UNC was able to grab a few first downs and grind out the clock to victory.

Miami kept the upset minded Deacons at bay in another close one for the Hurricanes. The first half was all Miami and Duke Johnson as he would find the endzone twice in the first quarter and set up a FG in the 2nd. In the 2nd half the Deacs finally got their offense going as they would outscore the Canes 24-14 , but Miami made just enough plays to stay ahead and get the victory.
