TCU escapes Austin with a big win over the 12th ranked Longhorns 35-25. TCU started fast picking off Jalen Overstreet on the Longhorns first possession and setting things up for a 15 yard BJ Catalon run for a touchdown. Texas would respond with ease though and run down the Horned Frogs throat setting up a Jaxon Shipley 17 yard touchdown reception. TCU didn't back down as Boykin drove his team down the field and QB sneaked it in for the score. The Horned Frogs held the Longhorns to a field goal and got the ball back one more time before the half. Boykin would find Brandon Carter wide open for a 40 yard strike but it would be called back on a holding call. The Horned frogs would fight though and BJ Catalon would end up taking a carry in for 6 from 5 yards out to put TCU up 21-10 going into the half. TCU received the ball to start the 2nd half and had a 12 play drive going to try to extend the lead before Boykin made an errant throw and Texas picked off the pass. They would be held to a field goal and TCU would start their drive again. It was a drive that never really got started as the first to plays were runs, followed by a passing play over the middle to Brandon Carter who was wide open but a defensive lineman would bat it down and Texas would get the ball down 8. Overstreet would start off with good field position and lead his team down the field where Jonathan Gray would finish things off with an 11 yard run. Down 2 with just over 5 minutes to go, the Longhorns would elect to go for 2 and the tie. Overstreet threw a quick pass out to Daje Johnson who would be tackled for a loss. With the Horns down 21-19, TCU would receive the kickoff and the offense would go to work. Boykin would lead his team down to the 1 yard line where he would take the QB sneak in for 6 and a 28-19 lead. After forcing a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, TCU would recover and get to a 4th and 3 where they would elect to kick a field goal. The Longhorns were antsy and really trying to block the kick though and were called offsides on the kick. TCU would accept and have 1st and goal from the 5. From there, Freshman Kylie Hicks (who took over for the injured Catalon) would take it in for 6 and a 35-25 lead with just over a minute to go. Texas wouldn't go away though and would score a touchdown but fail to get the 2 point conversion again. They would kick an onside only for TCU to recover and kneel the ball to end the game.

The offense shined this week as they took out a pesky UNLV squad. The first quarter was a struggle for both offense as the UNLV defense did a great job of containing Duke Johnson and forcing Ryan Williams into some bad throws, meanwhile the Miami defense was struggling to contain UNLV's read option attack because of poor tackling and being out of position, but eventually the offense got going and UNLV just didn't have enough in the tank to keep up and the game turned into a rout. Duke had another outstanding day and continues his heisman campaign adding 144 yards and 3 TDs on 20 carries as well as a FG returned 109 yards for a touchdown, while Phillip Dorsett torched the UNLV Secondary for a school record 3 reception touchdowns on 7 catches . Ryan Williams continues to shine as he was near perfect with 13-16 212 yards and 3 TDs. The defense forced 6 sacks an INT and a FF.
