Normally a game between two teams with losing records would not be of any interest; but the AFC is a mess, with no team above .500 in the division. This weeks game between the 3-4 Jets at the 2-5 Dolphins could have huge implications for the division. The first quarter was a prime example of why these teams have losing records. Once again Tannehill starts the opening drive with a disastrous interception; giving the Jets excellent field position. Unfortunately, The Jets are also struggling this season. So, although they put together an excellent drive to get the ball inside the Dolphins 10yd line, a fumble by Woodhead stalled the drive. The rest of the quarter was a defensive struggle with neither team able to sustain a drive. The Dolphins finally caught a break late in the quarter when Bush managed to get around the edge and scamper 36yds for a touchdown with 1:05 left in the quarter. Dolphins 7 - Jets 0. The second quarter looked very promising for the Jets. The Jets opened the quarter with a beautiful 48yd bomb from Palmer to Holmes to tie the score 7-7. After the opening drive though, both defenses once again shut down the opposing offenses until late in the 2nd quarter when Tannehill connected with A. Thomas on a diving 43yd touchdown grab to give the Dolphins a 14-7 lead with 1:54 left in the quarter. Palmer was on fire on the Jets next offensive drive, but a sensational interception by the Dolphins stopped the drive; allowing the Dolphins to kick a 48yd fieldgoal with :10 left in the half. Halftime score Dolphins 17 - Jets 7. The third quarter was a defensive masterpiece by both teams; with neither team scoring in the quarter. Dolphins 17 - Jets 7. Once again in the 4th quarter neither offense was able to score. Midway through the 4th quarter the Dolphins were finally moving the ball with some authority; driving inside the Jets redzone. Then the Jets defense attacked Tannehill relentlessly, eventually creating a sack/fumble and recovering the ball to hopefully begin a late game comeback. Regrettably, Carson Palmer was not up to the challenge. Throwing two pick six and another last minute interception which sealed the loss for Jets. Final score Dolphins 31 - Jets 7.
