San Diego Chargers (6-2) vs Oakland Raiders (7-1) An AFC west showdown in Oakland. The Chargers are coming off their bye week and 2 straight victories. The Raiders haven't lost since week 3. The Raiders offense is arguably the best in the league right now. QB Derek Carr is having a great junior season. Completing 72% of his passes (T2 in the league), QB Rating of 116.8 (2nd), 2,401 yds (4th), and 20 TD (T1). WR Torrey Smith and Rod Streater both have over 40 rec and 600 yds. The biggest factor in this offense though, may very well be RB Le'veon Bell. His season totals are 161 atts (6th), 992 yds (3rd), and 11 TDs (T3). The Chargers defense is going to have to come to prepared. At 15th in total yards, 25th in passing yards, and 10th against the run. This defense can get their fair share of takeaways. They have 21 (T4) on the year and will need to get a couple against this week. While they have given up a few yards, they haven't given up many points this season (153 (5th)) The Chargers offense isn't the same without QB Phillip Rivers at the helm. Rivers will be out a few more weeks with a ruptured disk. Joe Flacco has been taking his place and hasn't been able to find his footing in this offense yet. Completing only 58% of his passes and a QB rating of 64.4. WRs Keenan Allen, Ace Sanders, and Davon Sampson have all had solid years, thus far. The #1 target has been TE Ladarius Green who has 41 rec for 571 yds. HB Donald Brown hasn't had the year he was hoping for averaging just 57.9 yds a game. He will need to step that up this week to take some pressure off Flacco. While the situation might look grime for the Chargers offense, there is hope. The Raiders have the 20th ranked defense in the league. While they have done a good job against the run (5th), their pass defense (31st) has been atrocious. Raiders secondary hopes to change that this week. They have done a good job getting sacks (22) and takeaways (18). Big's Facts of The Game Le'veon Bell has averaged in 165 yds/gm in the past 5 games The Chargers next 4 opponents have a combined record 26-5 (Raiders, Colts, Broncos, Raiders) Prediction San Diego Chargers- 21 Oakland Raiders- 31 Oakland's offense is too good. Flacco will struggle. But I also predict Chargers CB Brandon Browner will get his first INT of the season.
