The #1 ranked Crimson Tide welcomed controllerabuser and his 8th ranked LSU Tigers to Tuscaloosa for a battle to take control of the SEC West. Going in based upon the stats and rankings this was going to be a game between balanced offenses and stingy defenses. The two teams slugged it out for a half trading turnover with neither team able to gain a significant advantage. The Crimson Tide scored on 2 TD passes to Cooper while the Tigers countered with a 44 yard FG and to end the 1st half at 14-3.
In the 2nd half the turning point came in the 3rd Qtr when after putting together a 15+ plus play drive LSU had driven inside the Alabama 20 yard line. The Tigers QB made a mistake and was picked off in the end zone by SS Wilkerson and raced 64 yards down the sideline before being run out of bounds. The Tiger defense turned the Tide away with an interception of their own in the end zone but the damaged had been done as the Tigers would not threaten again.
The Crimson Tide extended the lead in the final Qtr with a TD pass and a FG and wrapped up a hard fought 24-3 win over LSU. With the win the Crimson Tide takes control of the West and only needs 1 win in their reaming 2 SEC games to return to Atlanta. But more importantly the the win allowed Alabama to stay in the hunt for a 2nd BCS Title.
