Raiders Roll to 38-7 for 13th Win against Patriots

The streaking Raiders continue to play well and faced a playoff bound New England Patriots team led by Ryan Mallet and Chris Johnson. Johnson who is having an MVP type year has been torching opponents over the last few weeks go against one of the best run defenses in the league and one of them has got to give.

The Patriots had an opportunity first after punting on their first possession, but then picked off Pryor in Raider Territory. The Patriots were able to get within the five yard line on, but failed to punch it in the first to plays with Johnson. On 3rd down, Mallet tried to find the TE and was picked up by Wheeler in the end zone and the Raiders defense held. Both offenses traded failed possessions, but the Raiders eventually struck first putting together a very long drive that went over 15 plays and almost 10 minutes ending with a Pryor TD pass to Reece to give the Raiders a 7-0 lead in the 2nd. The Patriots looked to answer, but failed to do so and the Halftime score was 7-0 as both defense were paying well.
In the 2nd half, the story was different, the Raiders struck quickly in the third quarter with a Pryor 50 yard pass to Senat who sped down the field for a TD to give the Raiders a 14-0 lead. At this point in time, Chris Johnson hadn’t done much and averaged less than 2 yards a carry, but an all out blitz by the Raiders backfired and he finally broke out for a 60 yard TD run to get the Patriots back in the game. The Raiders responded, getting in the Patriots redzone and on 3rd down, Pryor hit Senat in the middle of the field and he trucked his way to the endzone for another TD score to give the Raiders a 21-7 lead. All went downhill for the Patriots from their and on the very next possession, last years DPOY Rolando McClain struck again for his 8th INT of the year and took it back for a TD score to give the Raiders the 28-7 lead. Within 20 seconds, the Raiders had scored two touchdowns to put the game out of reach.

The Raiders added another late TD and FG to give them the 38-7 lead. For most of the 1st half, both defenses played well, but the Raiders defense came throw with multiple picks on Mallett of which two were inside the redzone. Mallett was also sacked four times and could never get rhythm in the game.
Raiders lock up the 1st round bye and look to prepare for the playoffs.

You said it right, Mallett couldn't get it going in our game (rhythm). Both defenses were solid the first half. I had numerous int's in the redzone. Not ideal for a win. Nice win and good luck the rest of the way. Hopefully, we can meet up in the playoffs.
