Dmac Leads Raiders to 5-0 Start with Win Against Falcons 49-31 The Raiders coming off a win against an NFC South Opponent last week against the Saints, face another tough NFC opponent in the Falcons who come in with on of the most explosive offenses in the leagues and also one of toughest defenses to score on. The Raiders knew they need to jump out early and looked to behind McFadden who has been a workhorse this year. Dmac did not disappoint as Dmac and some good short passes from Pryor put the Raiders into the Falcon territory on the Raiders first drive. Dmac took a handoff right up the middle for a 44 yard score and quickly, the Raiders were up 7-0. The Falcons with Jones, White, Winslow and Ryan at the helm knew they take advantage of a rather weak secondary and early on, Ryan did as he continuously picked on DVD and hit Jones time after time. The Falcons quickly went down the field getting chunks in the passing game that set up a Brandon Jacobs 5 yard TD run to tie the game going into the 2nd. After a stop, the Falcons went to work again picking on the Raider secondary and utilizing Best in the backfield. Ryan and crew easily marched down the field finished off with a pass to Williams from Ryan for a TD to give the Falcons a 14-7 lead. With just over two minutes to go, Pryor went to work to get the Raiders in position to score before the half and through the passing and hitting gates ona few passes and still sticking to the run game, Pryor was able to hit Senat for an 18 yard score to tie the game. Falcons quickly responded with 50 seconds left in the half and got within the five yard dline and was barely able to get the FG to give the Falcons the lead 17-14 into halftime. The Falcons received the ball first at half up 3 and had an opportunity to go up two scores against the Raiders and threw the efficient passing of Ryan and a solid run game, the Falcons ate up half of the quarter and finished the drive off with an 8 yard TD pass to Roddy White to give the Falcons a 24-14 lead with a quarter and a half to go. The Raiders knew they need to score on their next position as the Falcons had been playing good defense and showed that their offense was tough to stop. As they have done, the relied on DMAC and on the first play, Dmac runs for a 76 yard TD to get the Raiders within 3. The Falcons still had the lead, but couldnt take advantage and was forced to punt and Jacoby Ford strikes again and takes a punt 82 yards for the score erasing a lead in two minutes. The Falcons were able to build the lead on a great offense and also not having any turnovers, but the 2nd half was not a good one for the Falcons after building a 10 point lead with Ryan throwing interceptions and essentially the offense sputtered. The Raiders continued to play good offense and tacked on another TD behind a 2 yard DMAC plunge who finished the game with 190 yards rushing and 3 more Rushing TDs. Then it went bad to worse for the Falcons as Curry picked off a pass and took it back for a score giving the Raiders a 42-24 lead. The Falcons had some hope after scoring on a 6 yard run by Best and forcing a punt down 42-31 with all their time outs left and with five minutes to go. Unfortunately, Ryan had been benched for throwing too many picks earlier and Kolb was no different hitting MccLain for another pick six to seal the game 49-42. gg Hokie Effect i will try to do a video for this in the next day or two.
