Turnovers and the absence of Wisconsin's running game where key to the win. We dominated time of possession and ran the ball very well. I think it was a good out traveling to Wisconsin and pulling out a win over the #3 team in the nation. Good Game Hal and good luck the rest of the year.
Florida impresses in Boise, wins 41 to 14
Coach Hickerson's debut went as planned for the Florida Gators, as they destroyed the Boise State Broncos in nearly every phase of the game. The Gators outgained the Broncos 401 yards to 153 and held the Broncos rushing attack to ZERO yards on 15 attempts. The defense picked off the Broncos quarterback 3 times and sacked him once. "We did what we wanted on defense, stop the ground game, force turnovers, and for the most part, avoid giving up big plays, I was very pleased," said Coach Hickerson. Offensively the Gators were just as impressive, running for 156 yards, and throwing for 245 more. The Gators also converted 7 of 11 3rd down tries. "That is a statistic we focus on, 3rd down, if we are converting those, we are staying on the field, and you have to be on the field to get points," said Hickerson. The Gator offense was led by junior quarterback Jeff Driskel who went 11 of 19 for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns. Driskel also ran for 17 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Jujuan Story and senior Andre Debose were the 2 touchdown recipients through the air. Story hauled in 3 catches for 96 yards. Senior tailbacks Mack Brown and Trey Burton carried the ball 13 times for 75 yards and 11 times for 58 yards respectively, each scored a touchdown.
The win improves the number 22 Gators to 5-0 on the year as they prepare to travel to Baton Rouge next week, to take on the number 7 LSU Tigers.
