Panthers Kick FG as Time Expires to Knockoff Saints 22-21

After another subpar season in 2013 finishing 6-10, the Carolina Panthers are looking to rebound in 2014 and got off to a great start knocking off the divison rival New Orleans Saints. The first quarter was a feeling out with both teams exchaning punts before New Orleans got on the board with a TD toss from Ledbetter. Carolina battled back but was stopped for a FG after a 60+ yard drive by the offense. New Orleans woke up in the 2nd quarter, hitting Sproles for screens and tosses and the little fella gashed CAR on the edges. Ledbetter found a rhythm and was able to find Colston for a number of outs and comebacks.

NO took a 14-6 lead into the break and opened up the 3rd 60 yard toss to Sproles. Going up 21-6, this was looking like another Saints blowout win, but Cam Newton and the Panthers found a rhythm and the former Heisman trophy winner began to pick apart the Saints defense. With the Saints D smothering the Carolina receivers at the line, Newton started spray the ball around the park, hitting 8 different receivers on the day, and attacking NO's spies with designed runs. Newton, also did an excellent job throwing the ball away when needed. Rookie RB Miles Barton woke up in the 3rd and really began to show his versatilty. Barton carried the ball from the backfield and showed off his hands making a diving catch to beatNew Orleans deep on a 60 yard pass from Newton. New Orleans had a chance to ice the game, but Chris Gamble jumped a curl route intended for Marques Colston and CAR was able to hold onto the ball before kicking a 28 yard chip shot in as time expried. One of those games I guess. I thought we had this game. Then Ledbetter shit the bed. Coudn't hit the broad side of the barn.

The 3rd quarter was huge in that your Rookie Barton started getting loose and Cam coudn't be stopped no matter what the cause. The fans are mad about the Saints offensive play calling. They seem to had gotten lazy and the late 3rd Q pick was key.
