Denver pulls off comeback to defeat division rival Oakland 38-37

After starting the season at 2-3 the Broncos have reeled off 5 straight wins, their 4 last have been decided by a total of 8 points.

Denver had lost 3 straight vs the Raiders including two in the postseason. They needed to find a way to slow down Oakland's high powered run game, but the complete opposite happened as Le'Veon Bell ran for 116 and LaMichael James had 74 himself. Luckily for Denver they were able to make key stops in the 4th to give rookie QB Alexander Broussard, who since changing his number to 15 has been clutch down the stretch of games, a chance late to pull off the incredible comeback.

The game did not start well for Denver has they were forced into a three and out and Punter Pat James shanked a punt 16 yards to give Oakland the ball on Denver's 31 yard line. 3 plays later Jacquizz Rodgers found the endzone from 25 yards out to give the Raiders an early 7-0 lead.
Denver's defense stepped up for the rest of the half yielding only 6 more points and giving their offense a chance to capitalize. The Broussard led offense would score 17 points in the half, including a TD drive at the end of the half that gave the Broncos a 17-13 lead heading into halftime.

Whatever coach Troy J. said at halftime worked, as the Raiders came out of the Blackhole ready scoring on their opening drive a nice 34 yard screen pass to Torrey Smith. Then forcing their only turnover of the game, a INT by OLB Sio Moore. Raiders would need only 4 plays to punch it in to give them a 27-17 lead heading to the 4th.

A 74 yard run by James early in the 4th gave Oakland's offense a 1st and goal from Denver's 3 yard line. And on the next play Carr found his favourite target Smith for a 3 yard score but on the play Carr was drilled by MLB Barrow as soon as he released it, Carr was not the same after the play.
With 5:45 left with the ball on Denver's 39 yard line up 34-17, Carr threw a pass to the flats to his FB Reece and after breaking the first tackle Reece gets stripped by Von Miller and the Broncos would recover the ball giving them a little hope.

Broussard would find his 4th WR Chaney for a 31 yard TD trimming the lead to 34-24 with 4min left. A failed onside kick gave the Raiders great field position, but on 3rd down Carr would miss a wide open Charles Clay sailing the pass way over his head. K Barnett would give his team a 37-24 lead. With only one Timeout left Denver needed to score quiclky and boy did they. Demaryius Thomas who had been quite all game streaked pass the press coverage and burned the CB for a 80 yard TD. 37-31

Coach Automatik knew that a FG would make it a two possession game so he decided to kick it deep with 3:20 left. Oakland needed a couple of first downs to ice it, and they got early on but Denver's defense wouldn't break on 3rd and 1 stopping the WR screen for a loss of 3.
With no Timeouts and 1:30 to go 80 yards the Broncos counted on their rookie QB to step up once again and lead them to victory.
Two big plays to start the drive by Demaryius and Acosta gave Denver the ball on Oakland's 25 yard line with 26 secs left. A mental mistake almost cost the Broncos as backup TE Phillips couldn't get out of bounds, after hurrying up to the line Ball would break a tackle and stepped out of bounds with 8 secs left giving Denver one last shot for the win. Both of Denver's starting WRs Sanders and Thomas were on the sideline for the play due to fatigue but that didn't phase Broussard as he found his 5th string WR Chuck Bostic down the seam for a GW 24 yard TD. http://xboxclips.com/EL1T3 PH3NOM/69dd974f-58a9-4f55-ab1e-4019d6638850

Great game Troy J. , stole that one from you. Looking forward to our game in Denver were hopefully we get a clear weather game.

Denver goes home to face San Diego who has struggled of late but don't count on the Broncos taking them lightly.

Story of the game was turnovers.
Green Bay threw a pick 6 on their opening drive to Bruce Carter (one of his two INT) on their way to throwing THREE 1st quarter picks, and 4 total in the game. Rodgers also lost a fumble on a screen play sack (where Avery didn't get credit for the sack).

Green Bay stayed in the game with it only being 14-10 before Houston scored a TD with 16 sec left in 1st half to make it 21-10. Mainly it was due to a stifling GB run defense where their SS had 5 TFL. The GB defense was able to force 3 turnovers of their own (2 INT 1 FF/FR).

Good game RyanRain39 ...that FG as time expired was an attempt to get Tucker more FGsso he doesn't regress...not trying to run up score. Your defense was killer and Cobb us sick in the open field...find some more passing and you'll be VERY dangerous. Glad I don't have to ever play you again unless we can both make the Big Game.
