The Chargers began their season 2-5 and were off to a really rough start and coach Danny Ski was on the hot-seat! There were rumors that he would be fired mid-season but the GM decided to let him finish out his third season before making any decisions. Since mid-season the Chargers have completely turned it around winning 5 out of their last 6 and are currently on a 4 game winning streak after the huge overtime victory against the Dolphins this week.

The game started out relatively slow with each team punting on failed drives but the Dolphins would be the first to score on a Peyton Hillis 9 yard TD run. The Dolphins defense lit up Phillip Rivers in the first half sacking him for huge losses and putting the Bolts in terrible 3rd and long positions all half. Rivers threw an interception on one of these 3rd and long possessions and the Dolphins were in scoring position again. However, the Chargers put pressure of their own on the Dolphins and sacked Tannehil to set up a 50 yard FG that was missed just short opening the door for the Chargers to tie it up before half. Rivers hit Royal on a 56 yard streak that set up a short TD to Aaron Hernandez to tie the game at 7 a piece. With only one minute to go in the half the Dolphins passed deep to Fleener to set up a FG to give the Dolphins the lead 7-10. The Chargers foolishly tried to even it up with only 30 seconds left and 3 TO's but Rivers threw another interception giving the Dolphins an "easy" 53 yard FG to end the half 7-13.....

The second half began with a long drought without any scoring until about 6:53 seconds left in the fourth quarter... Rivers passed deep to his field stretching TE for a huge 42 yard TD to Hernandez giving the Chargers their first lead of the game 14-13. The Chargers flexed their muscles on defense and forced a punt and answered back with a 40 yard FG giving the Chargers a 4 point lead 17-13. With only 5 minutes left the Chargers played great defense again and forced the Dolphins to punt but were held by the Dolphins on their ensuing drive and were forced to punt again themselves...

With a 4 point lead the Chargers felt good about their odds with only a minute and a half to go. However, Tannehil would find Fleener again on a long bomb TD for 83 yards to take the lead by 3 with only 1 minute to go 17-20.... Rivers came out looking rattled and almost threw an interception down field but the Dolphins defender luckily dropped the ball. Rivers was able to get things going once again on a long pass to Eddie Royal who took the ball out of bounds with 40 seconds left and within FG range. Rivers didn't want to tie the game but win it and hit Jeremy Maclin on a 23 yard TD pass to give the Chargers the lead again 24-20.

Now, with only 36 seconds to go the Chargers had all the reason in the world to start getting excited until a 62 yard kick return would put the Dolphins all the way down to 38 yard line!!! Tannehil once again hit his favorite target Fleener on a seam pass to score with 23 seconds left in the game giving the Dolphins the lead 24-27!!!! Talk about a demoralizing situation the Chargers found themselves in but they kept trucking! Rivers lead his team down the field with 3 TO's and some great sideline work and Kaeding kicked the 42 yard FG to tie the game 27-27!!

Overtime: The Dolphins got the ball first in overtime and were forced to punt on a three and out. Rivers then drove his team down the field to set up another Kaeding FG for the win 30-27!!!! The Bolts extend their winning streak to 4 games and keep their playoff hopes alive at 7-6 with this classic Chargers victory.

That loss really hurt; but it was a really exciting game.
